Need help with FLEAS!!!! I have treated both of my toy Yorkies and I continue to find them with fleas, they only weight about 3 pounds and are 5 and 6 years old.Can someone please help me with what to do ????? |
It depends on the severity of the flea infestation. If there were a decent amount of visible fleas on each dog then the chances are high that they were able to reproduce and the eggs may be all over your house. This means constant cleaning of any bedding both yours and the dogs as well as daily vacuuming of any carpet and couches, preferably with a vacuum that has a bag so that you can dispose of it after each vacuum. I did this when my little boy had only one visible flea and it honestly in my opinion prevented a big problem. I also washed him daily with a mild but effective flea shampoo and I applied the drops too. It was a bit harsh on him and he was 9lbs. So just be careful of the dosage bc it varies so much and your pups are much smaller. Fleas are a big hassle and the issue is that the eggs lay dormant around the house and can attach easily to the dogs again and reinfest. Good luck!! Hopefully you have caught it in the early stages! |

OP is your dog on a monthly flea prevention program through your vet? |
I've now put my little ones on Comfortis and it works. Two of mine are the size of yours. I tried the new Nexgard, at the beginning of the month and it's been just terrible! It has given both small ones the runs really bad. (My middle child is around 7 lbs and it did not affect her.) I will not use it again. Comfortis is for fleas, but Nexgard is for fleas and ticks. I don't like the stuff on the back of the neck because I shampoo them often and fearful that it will wash off prior to month end. I did have a flea infestation some time ago and had to call the Bug Guy. Good luck. |
Sorry to mislead... The bathing was daily with a mild flea shampoo... Followed with a combing. The drops are only applied on a monthly basis and in my case only applied once as the problem was under control after a couple of weeks. |
if you think they are in your house, flea busters is the only way to go stays in your carpet for a year, you can do it yourself, good stuff |
