...Poop 1 Attachment(s) Yeah. I've noticed that Tilly's poop looks like this: Attachment 401045 I can't tell if the specks are possibly worms/worm eggs or bits of undigested food. I'm sorry that this is gross but I also have a child and cat living in the apartment and would like to know what others think of this poop. Sorry if this grosses anyone out!:eek: |

I'm not a dog poop expert, but if you are concerned I would get a sample and take it to the vet. It needs to be as fresh as possible so I would tell the vet you have a sample and see if they would let you at least drop it off right away. |

Is she on any form of Heartworm Preventive???? I know my heartworm preventive I give my girls take care of worms, every thing except Tape worms which come from fleas being ingestedm but then mine don't have fleas. |
If you are concerned about parasites in the poop take a sample to the vet. They will look at it under a microscope to identify and treat. Good luck and let us know |
Thanks everyone! She has an appt tomorrow morning, she is getting shots etc. I cant be sure if her previous owner did any preventative care or not. We got her home with us a few days ago and i got an appt for her as soon as they could see her. Ill let everyone know whats going on tomorrow. :) |
To me, this poo looks too grainy and mushy. This could be due to the food you're feeding (did you switch or anything? any new treats?), something she ingested by mistake - irritating the GI tract, and/or due to a parasite. When she goes in the morning, put a small sample in a plastic baggie and double bag it - and bring that into the vet for a sample. You're correct in that this poo isn't quite normal - it should be firmer and more formed / harder...so something is off here. Please let us know how the appt goes :)! |

Her vet called this morning and had to reschedule to tomorrow afternoon because her dachshund has broken his back!! :( So i'll know tomorrow what's up. I'm really anxious about it. She is playing like normal and is doing really well in her crate...now to get her to use those pee pads...;) |
I hope she is doing well today. Please let us know when you hear anything! |
Went to the vet, and Tilly has Coccidia. All things considered, this isn't the worst news. She is on meds now and she just had her first poop since her first dose and it wasn't diarrhea! Lol I am a little confused though and a little annoyed because i'm getting conflicting info. One source will say that it is only contagious to animals and another will say it is contagious to both animals and humans. I don't understand. The vet said it was contagious and to clean etc. So tomorrow i am buying a steam cleaner to make sure our carpets are immaculate. But as she was saying this, the vet tech was allowing Tilly to lick her face and the vet also didn't seem overly concerned. She just said "dont eat the carpet and wash your hands". So...I just want to know for sure here lol it is confusing that no one seems to know. |
Oh but then she showed me a picture of a small child with a rash from Coccidia? Im so confused. |

The common type of Coccidia found in dogs can NOT be transferred to humans. |
Yes I plan to steam clean with borax today. She will be having a bath today as well, i caught her stepping all over poos last night lol. Also will lysol her crate today. Been changing her towels in her crate/play area daily (or when soiled). Because of where I live, cryptosporidium is a danger and I think the only way to know for sure which type of coccidia it is i have to have her poo sent to a special lab. So i'm taking all precautions just in case it is the coccidia humans can contract. To be honest even if we did get it as well it wouldn't be the end of the world (and that is crazy coming from me because I have OCD and an anxiety disorder lol). Damn i must really love this precious little whining and barking and keep-the-house-up-all-night baby girl. |
