It sounds like reverse sneezing, my Karlee does it too. It usually happens when she gets excited, or eats or drinks too fast. I know how worrisome it is, and if it turns out to be the same, you can learn certain techniques to help your pup relax the spasms in the throat. Reverse sneezing is fairly common, and is not harmful to your pup. It sure does scare you though, because it sounds like they are choking to death. It's good that you have a vet appt., then you will know for sure. Dogs with kennel cough, or collapsing trachea can sound similar, but those are very different. Good you got a video of it in case you can't make it happen when at the vet's. This thread has several videos and info about reverse sneezing: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...2-weezing.html Good luck, and do update when you see the vet. |
I can't see the video on my iphone. :( I wish I could help you out. I hope everything goes well at the vets! |
my other dog had a reverse sneeze and it does sound like that. Definitely take it to the vet and let us know. |
It sounds like reverse sneezing to me as well. Buster does this also when he is excited or drinks his water too fast. He are some videos to compare from the YT library. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...d-trachea.html With Buster I do a couple of things until the cycle breaks. With Buster I have learned to put a finger over his nose so he mouth breathes and it breaks the reverse pattern. Another method I like is I also will lift his back legs so he is doing a handstand (all while holding onto him so he does not fall) and then stand him on his back paws and gently repeat this until he stops. I usually hear the sound of it going back into correct position. I also stroke Buster's chest as this seems to help too. |
Looks like a bout of reserve sneezing to me. |
