Got nicked by the groomer 1 Attachment(s) Our cutie is 5 years old and always have been scared of everything and mostly groomers. We tried a random place, 2 others that came recommended and finally mobile grooming service that does it in a car outside. So far nicks on her ear and 2 nicks on her leg. She can't stay still, she just freaks out constantly. One point we stay with her during grooming, she was so nervous she puked. Events of today's nick attached in the picture. We're so concerned something worse will happen but don't know what to do about it anymore. Any grooming advice? |
First you need to find one groomer and stick with them, ask around, there are very few good groomers out there, many are self taught or worse. If you start as a puppy usually the first time is easy as puppy doesn't know what going on and how to fight it. The next 3 or 4 can be hell as the puppy will squirm and fight, after that it should be cake. A good groomer will know the tricks and control points and also the spots that trigger problems. In your case you need to find a very experienced groomer who knows how to rehab, don't expect too much the first few times, they will only go as far as the dog will let them. Also tip generously as it will be a slow tedious process rehabbing your pup. Your pup was probably abused/mishandled early on and most groomers don't take the time or have the experience to take on problem dogs so it just gets worse. |
Poor baby! That's the flappy part between the legs, need to be very careful there...was the groomer informed? She/ he needs to pay for any vet bills. Please don't let him lick it, as that can exasperate the problem. |
Poor lil thing, that's some nic, I agree with windwalker, stay with one groomer, the pup will get use to that person and "maybe" will be more calm, not sure of staying with a groomer that nic the pup, that one the pup may be afraid of. I took my adopted boy of 9 months (he's 3 y/o) for his first grooming since I have had him, I was told he was not a good boy and his face hair cut showed that, his whiskers were a bit uneven.This groomer came recommended to me by my neighbor, they have 2 yorkies and they always look so well groomed, so I Know it's my pup and not the groomer. I don't know if the prev. owner took him to the groomer. The one I used with my now past lil girl is out of business, they were great with the pups and always gave a beautiful hair cut. It is hard finding a good caring groomer. Good luck. |
dog You need a mobile home groomer that loves dogs. That way your dog is groomed right there on your driveway and not dropped off at some strange place. I do not trust groomers unless I know them and see them work. I know some hit dogs with brushes. Be careful who you choose. I am so sorry your dog was hurt. Your dog would not want to go there ever. Unless a groomer truly loves dogs, forget it. They are in there for the money and not the precious beauty of the Yorkie! |
Ask a lot of questions. Check yelp etc., ask the groomer who they would take their pet to if they didn't groom... And, what breed they have at home. My girls have only had one groomer, and they have never ever been nicked! Accidents do happen, but those numbers are not ok! Good luck finding a great groomer! :) |
