anyone BUY Metacam online???? HELP NEEDED My Murphy who is 7 yrs old has hurt his hind leg, Luxiating Patella the Vet told me, he gave him a very tiny amount of Metacam Oral 1.5mg, he take .015 mls once a day. Murphy is only 5 lbs I can get this med online at Amazon for $36, the vet charged me $14 for a very very small amount in a tiny bottle. not even a full teaspoon. Is it safe to buy this med online ? Has anyone purchased this sort of druga online? Thanks for your input ....Kat |
I wouldn't buy it online. |
OK thank you... I have never bought meds online and someone told me to try to buy them online they were cheaper...but i was very unsure of this ... thank you |
There are places like Dr. Foster and Smith that are run by veterinarians that are reputable. I used them when there was a national shortage on seligilene, a medication for Parkinson's Disease, but it's also used to treat Canine Cognitive Dsfunction. My vet couldn't get it, so I was able to get Anipry from them. Sometimes pharmaceutical companies will not guarantee their products such as heart worm medication unless it's purchased at a reputable place. They will guarantee the medications from Dr. Fosters and Smith. Katie doesn't take Metacam, but my dear friend's dog does. Like me, she purchases almost all of her medications from her vet. She ordered the Metacam with a prescription from her vet, and there was a significant price savings ordering it from Dr. Fosters and Smith. |

Depends. There are some reputable sources. Also consider a vet pharmacy like Diamondback. It may be cheaper. |
Thank you all for the wonderful replies, I went back to the vet and got 2ml for him which cost me again $14, he has a Luxiating Patella and was on this for a week already, he has to take it for another week. This problem doesnt seem to me that it will get better very soon. He did not have trouble with his leg until he fell :( I feel so bad for him, he seems ok but he does limp every now and then, holds his leg up and licks his knee now and again. The vet said this is mild...and he has NO arthitis in his little body at the moment. Does this really get better, or is he doomed now because of the fall .... Hurts me to see him limp Thanks everyone Kat.... |
drs foster and smith is a good place for meds, just need a scrip from your vet, very good company |
How is Murphy doing? All better, I hope. |
Murphy is doing good, he isnt limping anymore but I do notice his leg seem stiff alittle when he gets up from taking a nap, the doctor told me he has no arthitis as of yet, and the LP is a grade 2, and the Vet said he does not recommend surgery at this stage. I have started him on Dasuquin however he does not seem to care for it like he does the Phycox, so I guess I will give him the Phycox. So far so good, we take it one day at a time, my only problem is I cant seem to keep him from jumping, even when he plays he jumps around ... thanks for asking about him :) |
