liver shunt sugery
 
Lil Miss had liver shunt sugery on 6-17 had to vet today because her belly is very hard & bloated there waiting on ut surgan to call back has anyone else had this surgery & is it normal I'm sick with worries any info would be great. Lil Miss mom

I do not have any experience with this, but I want to offer my support. Praying for your Lil Missi that it is something relatively benign. I'm glad you took her to the vet, and I hope the surgeon calls back soon.

Has she been having regular bowel movements and has she been eating normally/normal activity level?

Yes eating playing bm are still loose since sugery she seems fine all but her belly is so hard she has gained weight on on 6-4 4.4lbs on 6-17 5.1 lbs & today 5.6lbs

I hope there is a positive explanation for the weight gain. Is she eating better than she was before her surgery? I know with liver shunt dogs, they often struggle to gain weight and develop. Once the shunt is taken care of, I believe they tend to start eating better and gaining.

You are a great mom for staying on top of this. Praying the doctors can find the cause of her hard, bloated belly quickly and give her relief.

Update they think the shunt is starting to close already so this is why her belly is hard & why she has the lose stools if she get painful they may need to drain out some of the protein in her belly they say this lasts for about 5-7 days but every dog is different I do fill a little better knowing what's going on
