I'm glad Harley is improving! I hope tomorrow brings even more good news for you. |
Valorie, your and Harley are in our prayers. I'm so glad to hear he is improving. You have my number if there is anything I can do for you. Please call me. |
Great news that he is improving! :) |
I received the most adorable picture this morning from Valerie's daughter....Harley was on his back begging for belly rubs! :) He is still on IVs and tube feedings, but is definitely feeling better. :) I am sure Valerie will be on later to give a full update on his condition; but wanted to post this for now so everyone knows. :) |
What a relief. Nice to have some good news today. |
Thanks for the update LadyJane, it's great to know Harley's improving! |
I've just returned from Gulf Coast again today and I'm sure they are VERY tired of seeing me! Harley was much improved, an amazing difference today. In fact, while in the waiting room with my daughter this morning, the elevator doors opened and she said, "That's a cute yorkie, Mom...Oh my gosh - that's Harley!", as the tech stepped off walking Harley on a leash after taking him outside to go to the bathroom! I was shocked to see Harley up and walking on a leash. I was so happy, I sat on the floor of the lobby with him for the next 5 minutes. His bloodwork is normal, and they will re-introduce food by mouth tomorrow to see if he tolerates it. If he does, they will take him off all IV meds, take out the NG tube and possibly come home Saturday, but most probably Monday. Linda, you have certainly made a believer out of me about Gulf Coast. They are an amazing place. Harley was barely over having a seizure on Monday morning, he was in shock, having severe pancreatitis and was non-responsive and now, 48 hours later is walking on a leash and wanting belly rubs. His pancreatitis was severe, and after doing a little research, it's my understanding 50% of these little ones don't survive. Had I not gotten Harley to Gulf Coast, I don't believe he would have made it. Please don't ever wait if your little one has any of the symptoms of pancreatitis. Time is very important. Once again, thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers....they certainly helped! |
I just saw this thread. I hope Harley will be back in his home sweet home soon! Pancreatitis is a very scary condition! |

That is very scary statistic, 50%. An eye opener that sends a very powerful message. |

Nonetheless, Harley is a lucky boy. His condition was not good Monday morning..I swear by that place (Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists). They are the same place/people who saved Piper recently. |

Thank God and Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists! :) |
I'm so glad to hear that Harley is on the mend! I hope he continues to improve. |
So happy to hear the great news about Harley! |
Just seeing this and glad things are better. Prayers for you both! |
I am so happy Harley is doing better. Yes they are some miracle workers at GCVS. As, ladyjane said. They saved my Piper Girl. Dr. had said that if Piper were human, she would have been on a liver transplant list at St. Jude's. Valorie and Linda, we need to get Harley, Piper and Kiche together for photos' of GCVS miracle work. |
So happy to see Harley's improving, such a relief! Praying for the two of you and that he'll continue to recover quickly. |
Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. Harley is improving, slowly, but improving! They keep telling me baby steps because he was so ill. He is still very slow to eat. I took tilapia (thanks Linda) and chicken up today and he was not very excited. Usually, Harley would trade me for a bite of human food, so this was a little discouraging. I have to keep reminding myself just how far we have come in just 3 1/2 days and that helps...I was finally brave enough to read his records from the first EC and his admission report from Gulf Coast and it makes me realize how lucky I am to have Harley still with us today! The Dr tells me we are probably looking at Monday before they will release him. It sure has been a long week! |
