Prayers for Harley! |
I know some of you are concerned.... Valerie has had a busy day. She has seen Harley twice and I had a brief conversation with her a little while ago. He is improving slightly ... so hopefully he will continue. She will probably come along later and update. I know she plans to go visit again around 5PM |

I've gotten to visit with Harley twice today. When i arrived at Gulf Coast at 9 AM, we met with the Dr and she told me Harley was showing signs of improvement. She upgraded his condition from "guarded" optimistic to "carefully" optimistic. When I went in the back to see Harley, I thought he looked much worse. He did not raise his head or open his eyes. His NG tube is stitched to his nose and he looked totally non-responsive. When I knelt in front of his cage in the ICU and called his name, he tried to open his eyes. I think he could see and hear me, but I could not be sure. It was not a good visit. Jump to my 1:00 PM visit and things had improved. He was sitting in his cage and seemed to recognize me when he saw me. He is still not very mobile, but that may be due to all of the pain meds they have him on. He is still very painful in his abdomen. He did try to walk to me, but seemed very painful as I tried to pick him up, so I left him in the cage. They are reducing his glucose and pain meds to see how he does. This is frightening to me, but my daughter keeps telling me to trust the Dr's....so I'm trying to trust. The phone continues to stay silent from Gulf Coast and that is a good sign. I've never watched the clock so much in my life. I know that each passing hour is a positive sign for Harley - he just needs to continue to fight. I'll go back at 5 PM today and, hopefully, the good news will continue. It helps to share all of this with people I know who love their babies as much as I do.... |
Continuing prayers for Harley. The pain meds knock them out so much it is hard for us to judge how they are doing, but I'm sure he is in the best hands now, and hope he continues to rest and improve. So sorry you are going through this stress, you are such a good Momma. |
I pray for strength for both you and Harley and that his pain subsides and he gets well soon. Your pain and love are so palpable. I'm so sorry you are both going through this. |
Valerie, I just saw this this...hope Harley continues to improve, you and Harley will be in our prayers. |

Was just checkig in on Harley. Prayers do still continue for him. |
5:00 visit was much better. Harley recognized me and even walked over when he saw me. I think he may have even been mad when I didn't pick him up and take him...Harley has the sweetest disposition, and I can honestly say, I don't think he's ever acted mad or angry in his life. Today, mad was good! I was so happy to see Harley show something other than pain and illness. The Dr called after we left and told us they were going to increase his NG feedings tomorrow. She also said his glucose level was good and hopefully we could take him off the glucose tomorrow. She said she was surprised at his progress today and could not be happier. I am so relieved and happy right now. I only hope we don't have any setbacks, but have no reason to believe we will. His progress is slow, but steady - I'm so grateful. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and positive thoughts. I truly appreciate it. |
Continued prayers for Harley and for you, Valerie. I am SO happy that he is improving!! |
