What the heck is this?! 1 Attachment(s) Ok so about two weeks ago Chibi had a red bump on his arm, I thought it was a bug bite and gave him Benadryl but after 3 days it wasn't any better so we went to the vet. He took a sample and looked at it under the microscope and said it was just probably a really bad big bite and we got temeral-p. So now it's almost gone but we just left town for 3 days and left them with my mil. Picked him up today and he has this huge red and white thing on his thigh area. This looks like the first one but WAY bigger. Like a pea vs a quarter! Otherwise he seems healthy. I've never seen anything like this - I feel like panicking! |
Poor Chibi! Hard to say from a picture, but it looks potentially like ringworm: https://www.google.com/search?q=ring...w=1366&bih=604 I would have the vet check it out on Monday. Dog Ringworm: Symptoms and Treatments |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of thing that was on his arm, it's pretty much gone now. The thing on his leg is puffy too. I hope it's not ringworm I know how hard that is to treat. Molli does not have any spots. |
I guess ringworm can be raised spots, I've always just seen it more flat. I hope it's not poor guy, we will see the vet Monday. Thanks for the info I didn't even think of that |
Very odd...do I have it right in the hair is gone in these areas of the bumps? If so, I too would at least r/o ringworm...just to be sure. Don't worry too much if it is that - it's easily treated w/ Diflucan x 6wks. |
It does look like ringworm. I would get an appointment on Monday just to be sure. Poor baby. |
just remember if ringworm you can catch it. One of few things you can catch from a dog |
Update: in 24 hours 2 more spots popped up. Went to vet, he said they were pustules from a skin infection from allergy flare up! My poor baby, he has never had anything like this, I also don't know what caused his allergy flare up. The only thing new is I switched him off CC food but that has been a few months now. Anyone have experience with this? |
Sorry I have been sort of away....yes, this is very common! I doubt it has anything to do with the food. Staph infections on dogs are so very common and are not a huge deal. It can be due to one flea bite...they start scratching and end up with a skin infection. He will be good as new in no time! :) |
