Advice for disc issues in yorkie On sunday my lil callie was in pain, hiding and pacing...all the symptoms that I know she will display when something is wrong. I took her to the ER vet that night and they said she had a slipped LP and popped it back in place. She nor I slept the rest of night because I could tell she still couldnt get comfortable. I took her to my regular vet first thing on Monday morning. By examination he told me he thought she had a slipped disc issue. So he gave her steriod injection and I have been giving her pain meds to help ease pain. She was better last night and I had my mother watch her to keep an eye on her while I went to work. Last night she seemed better but not back to herself still. Walking gingerly etc. Well I came to work again and took her to my moms again..she is resting and no jumping or running and keeping her calm. However my mother called and told me she is lifting her left front paw again. Which to me I know she is still in distress a bit. Has anyone else gone through this that can help me ease my worry? I know it will take time but should I run her back to the vet again? I left a message for the vet to call me back, I just do not want her in pain. Any advice is much appreciated. I love her so much and she is my best friend. She is 9 years old and 4lbs. Thank you:confused::confused: |
I think the usual recommendations are drugs and crate rest... depending on the severity of the problem(s). If she's showing new or worsening symptoms, it's best to have her seen again. One thing though, have her walk a few steps in one direction, then have her turn around and walk the opposite direction. The leg that has pain should be the same. Some pups will feign limping in one leg, but when they turn around, they limp with the other leg, whichever is closest to Mommie, so she will see it. |
