Abdominal mass Took Lexi for her regular annual check and heartworm test. During examination the vet found a mass in her abdomen, 2.5 to 3 centimeters and round. You cannot see any lump. X-rays done today did not give any answers. Ultra sound tomorrow with possible aspiration. Has anyone had experience with this? Is there any questions I should ask the vet? She has no other symptoms. Eating, drinking, and eliminating is fine. She is only 5 years old. :( thanks in advance for any advice. |
I have no advice but wanted to offer my well wishes that it is nothing serious will keep both you and Lexi in my thoughts and prayers. |

Prayers for you and Lexi... |
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. |
Ultra sound today showed a mass on her spleen. Radiologist thought it Could be a hematoma. We will recheck in 4 weeks and if it is still there we will have to consider removing her spleen. :( continued thoughts appreciated. |
Of all the things I could think of, I would think if it comes down to a surgical removal of the spleen, it would not be so terrible. At least I hope so. Praying that it is something simple that resolves. |
Hang in there, keep us posted will be hoping and praying for your baby. |
Thanks so much. I know I don't post here often but when something like this happens this is the first place I think of for prayers and support. No one understands these little babies better then you all here on this forum. She is the best dog ever....to me. :) She is her fun self and I would never have known anything could be wrong. With rabies and other vaccinations running now 2 or even 3 years, I cannot stress enough how important it is to still visit your vet annually. And not just for lab work, but physical exam. And finding a vet who takes their time with you to explain and answer questions. That exam fee is the same if you spend 5 minutes with the vet or 1/2 hour or whatever it takes. I am praying for a good outcome for my Lexi. Thanks again. |
Sorry to hear about Lexi's problem, and I hope that it either goes away or is successfully removed. That is a good reminder to all of us to get those annual checkups for our pups. My 3 are due now for their annuals, and I will make the appointment soon. |
