Shaking, panting and seizures???
 

Our little guy is almost 7 years old. Within the last few months he all of a sudden starts panting, or if he plays a little he pants very heavy. Last night and once before, he had what we think was a seizure. He doesnt eat table food, just Iams dog food. It's terrible and we don't know what to do. Any suggestions, I know the vet but we can't afford it right now. He shakes really bad. Thank you

There isn't some home remedy for what you describe. He needs to see the vet pronto.

At the top of YorkieTalk's section page is a library. In there there is information how you can come up with funds to take your Yorkie to the vet. Another option is try to find a vet who will allow payments. You need to do something or your sweet baby may pass over Rainbow Bridge. If there ends up being no way for you to get proper medical care, there is the option of signing him over to a rescue......not a humane society or shelter but to a rescue. Dogs routinely shake and pant when they are in pain or fearful and I doubt he's scared - he's likely hurting badly. This will sound harsh but you need to think long and hard about your responsibilities to your dog who is likely in trouble and in pain and put your dog's well being first. How can you stand to have a possibly ill or hurting dog in your home and allow him to suffer and not get him help right now? I don't understand that mindset at all. Your dog is at your mercy, totally depending on you. Sell your TV, computer, phones, watches, wedding rings, whatever you have to do to raise funds to get him started on diagnostic tests, exam. If you love him, get him to the vet ASAP. He could be quite ill or in pain and needing immediate relief. Take him to the vet, explain that you have applied for Care Credit and they will possibly go ahead and begin diagnosis and treatment.

But we are amateurs, not qualified to assess your baby and have no idea what is wrong with him and cannot dispense relieving medication - but a vet can and that's what your dog needs right now based on the symptoms you have describe as a last resort to get your dog help ASAP. If you cannot afford to get him needed medical care yourself, you could surrender him to a rescue organization through the vet's office and they can usually arrange diagnostic and treatment plans to start right away. As heartbreaking as it would be, it wouldn't be any worse than sitting there watching him shake, pant, have seizures and suffer and would be the right thing to do if you just cannot get him care any other way. I beg you not to put off getting him help any longer.

I agree with the others, he needs to see a vet ASAP. There are things that can cause seizures that if not treated Prompt & Properly will kill him. Please keep us posted on this as we ALL worry for ALL of YT's sick pups.
