What is this on my Yorkies face? Worried, need help! Was bathing my Yorkie this morning and found that he Has some kind of mole? On his face. It's like a Tannish/white color. Don't know what it is. It's about the size of a pea. I took a picture, but I don't know how to attach it. Can anyone tell me anything about this? May need to take him to the vet? I don't know how to Attach a picture |
If you shrink the photo down to a small size 250 I think it will post. you can do a google search for a free photo resizer if you do not have a program already. My Lola has a lil mole under her chin...Weve never had an issue with it and I guess I should thank you for the reminder to show the new vet. Your sure its not a tick though right?? Just want to make sure... |
You need to have a vet check it out, in case it is a tumor/cyst or something that needs a biopsy/cytology. |
Sounds like a tick engorged with blood. I would take him to the vet and if it is a tick they can remove it from him. At least you would know by them examining him. |

Our dog has had ticks before and it does sound like a tick, you want to get to your vet soon as the longer it is attached the more chance of contacting lym disease. Also if it is a tick ask the vet to show you how to remove it yourself with this little plastic tool they can give you, it's not hard. Good luck ! |
I agree sounds like engorged tick with blood. |
You all could be right! I'd assumed anyone would know the difference between a mole and an engorged tick attached to their dog's skin but maybe not! She didn't describe the reddish ring around the base where it's attached but as this apparently appeared suddenly, it probably is a tick that needs removing the right way to prevent the head from remaining embedded skin. |
I would guess it's just a wart but with no pic it's hard to say. Wart, tick, mole, whatever it is I would say a vet check is in order. |

Sounds like a tick to me. |
Here are 2 different references for Lyme Disease. It looks like you are in Maine which is a high risk area. Lyme Disease in Dogs https://wuisnews.wordpress.com/2012/...e-in-illinois/ The tick needs to be immediately removed in case it's a disease carrying tick. I believe the Angel article says that if you catch the tick within 48 hours you are safe so it's best to learn how to remove them if one is ever found. Good luck and I hope the 2 links are helpful. Ticks are gross little creatures. |
