Kneecap problems, operation? I need a bit of advice, Ozzie my 5 year old Yorkie has problems with his knee-caps. The vet said that he is borderline for operating on, but I should think about it, as he could develop arthritis. Does anyone know in how much pain the dog will be after the operation and how long he will not be able to walk? Ozzie is like a kid for me, so I really want the best for him. Please help! |
My baby Gracie (RIP myangel) had both knees operated on at once. The first day she was in some pain, but after that she got around great on her little red casts. She was one year old at the time. |
Thanks a lot, I assume the casts were taken away after a while, how long was that? What happened to your baby? |
Does your dog has LP? (LP = Luxated Patella) LP is basically dislocating kneecaps. My Maltese had this problem in his rear left leg and was operated on. It was the best thing I ever did!! He is like a whole new dog now -- more active and definitely more happy. I would recommend it. |
Yes it is (you see I am German and forget all these fancy words), just confirmed with my husband. I thought it will be best, but just wanted to have some confirmation. Poor Ozzie, will be out for a few weeks I guess, no running about. Merlin (my other one) will take the micky out of him. Thanks for answering. |
