Anyone up? Advice please. My little one vomited earlier in the evening but I thought it was runny poop since the texture and smell looked like it. I just woke up to my baby's scratching and whimpering in his crate. I thought he needed to pee so I let him out and as soon as he rushed out of this crate, he started throwing up. Then he kept dry heaving for a while before settling down and i gave him some water then proceeded to wrap him up in a towel for warmth and petted him until he settled down again. He's now snuggled in bed with me and chewing on his plush toy. But every so often, he'll stop to dry heave again, but he hasn't thrown up again. Anyone know what else I can do to make him more comfortable? And what CAN be the problem? He just got a series of vaccinations yesterday, 1 of which he's had before (distemper parvo la), but 2 are new (lyme disease and giardia). but it's been more than 24 hrs since the vaccinations and he didn't exhibit any negative symptoms other than soreness after the vaccines. Is there anything else I should make note of? Should I take him to the vet in the morning? Or should I wait to see if he continues to exhibit these symptoms? HELP! |
Sorry, I'm no expert. I would suggest calling vet in the morning if the dry heaves keep up. I've heard dehydration can be a problem, especially in young dogs, so you might see if he'll drink. I know a lot of Yorkies throw up, but anything persistent would concern me. Good luck. I hope he's feeling better. |
I would call the vet also,, but as soon as I got to the " he had shots yesterday" part, I kinda relaxed.. ALot of times the shots give them a upset tummy, and it can be the next day, But I'd call asap. Has he ate or drank, might try that. let us know. |
i tried to get him to drink from his bowl, but he refused so i cupped some water in my hand and he was willing to drink from my hands. he finally stopped heaving and started sleeping in the past hour. he has eaten and drank regularly since the shots on tuesday and in fact some of his vomit included what looks like soft, partially digested kibbles. i'm feeding him again at 7am so i'll see what happens then... |
First, a warning. He must never have so many vaccines at the same time again. We compromise the immune system of these little fragile beings and treat them as if they were Great Danes. Not us necessarily, but the vets. Syringe some sugar or honey water in him. Then try to get him to take more Nutri stat or nutrical.. CALL THAT VET AND LET HIM KNOW how he hurt your baby...Give him smoochies from Rini and the cuties, |
id ring the vet ASAP and explain that since your baby had the shots his been ill. maybe its all over now and your baby will settle and be better |

It may cost a little more too but it is so worth it. I hope your little one is better soon. |
thanks for the advice and good thoughts everyone. bunjee's feeling a lot better this morning. sleeping a lot, drinking a little, and he ate as normal this morning. i called the vet this morning and they said to just monitor his intake and situtation and if he continues to vomit, then to bring him in, otherwise make sure he gets plenty of water. they're also making a note in his file not to give so many vaccines at once in the future. we had a short play session this afternoon and now he's back to sleep in bed again. it seems like other than catching up on his lack of sleep last night, he's back to his normal self. i'm still keeping a close eye on him for the day. i think he's enjoying the extra attention. :D |
Great to hear! |
I am glad that he is feeling better now. I would make sure to watch him really carefully to make sure he is eating and drinking. I hope he continues to get better. |
Great to hear he's feeling better! Like everyone said, just make sure he's getting enough fluids because these guys can dehydrate very quickly. |
