Poor baby's first big booboo Harley got into a huge mess tonight while visiting his grandparents. Turns out my cat got a hold of him and sliced him up pretty good on the ear. He was gushing blood. I applied pressure to the wound but he was growling a bit. So I washed him up with baby wipes and left him alone. Is there anything that I can put on it so he won't get an infection or should I just take him to the vet? My poor baby is hurt. |
2 Attachment(s) OOOh poor baby! When scooby was a baby he was terrible about chasing the cat who of course didn't care for him....well, one day the cat got him in the eye. It really scared me to death but he turned out okay...To this day you can find him at least once a day with white fur in his mouth...other than the daily "I will pay you back" they are best of friends. |
Poor Harley. I hope he will be ok. That dumb cat. My dad has three of them and when we go visit him I am always scared they will hurt Gus. The smallest of the 3 is still 3 times bigger then my Gus. He doesn't care, he goes crazy chasing them. Reneernc, That is too funny! Not too long ago there was a memeber (I forget who) shared a picture with their yorkies mouth full of the cats fur. He was so busted. I thought it was the so funny. |
Cat injuries can become infected and often do. I would take the baby to the vet and see what care he suggests for the wounds and if he wants to give oral antibiotics to prevent infection. Has the cat been declawed? I know a cat that has been and still manages to damage the dog with his back claws.. |
Well I can't declaw her sh'es also my baby. I just don't know how to make them be friends. Harley seems to die trying to be her friend but she's just not having it. Yet she's always one step behind him. Go figure cats and dogs are funny. Harley woke up just fine this morning I guess I made it a bigger deal. That's what mama's do I guess. Thank you all for your replies. |
We have two cats and will soon (hopefully be bringing home a new yorkie baby,Told my wife that our home without a yorkie running around is just not in its natual state. That being said if there is a conflict between the three we will find good homes for the cats....hopefully it won't come to that but in our home its always been......Yorkie's Rule and cats Drool!! |
I'd call the vet. Cat clawings can leave really bad scars if they get a little invected. They aren't like dog scratches or something. He'll probably tell you to put a triple antibiotic ointment or something on it but it needs to be cleaned really good at least. Hope he doesn't need stitches. You know how it feels when you get clawed by the cat - it's that way on them too.... Hope he's okay. |
Clean it well - soap - water - peroxide - etc. Let it dry and put Neosporin on it. Watch it closely - if there is any sign of infection, take your puppy to the vet. It will probably turn out just fine. My dogs have had their fair share of injuries and none have ever become infected - yet - knock on wood! Carol Jean |
