Liver Shunt please Help!!! Hello everyone, I'm new to YorkieTalk. Today I rushed my six year old Sunset to the vet. My husband called me while I was out this morning to tell me to get home fast. Our Sunset was bumping into walls then finally collapsing unable to stand. I picked her up and rushed her to the vet. The doctor called to tell me she did blood work on Sunset and her protein levels were extremely high. She informed me that it looks as though Sunset has liver stunt. The doctor said that she would give her an I.V. fluids along with medicine. However, the doctor also stated that I would need to take Sunset to see a specialist for possible surgery. I have been crying all day and cannot believe this. Sunset was seen on 2/12/2014 by the same vet for her DHPP (no Lepto) shot and that went fine. For the last two weeks she was vomiting up her dry Iams dog food constantly. I just thought I was over feeding her. But today she just could not stand let alone walk. How did it just come out of the blue like that? Also can someone recommend a good specialist to me in my area? I'm in Reisterstown, MD and I live maybe twenty minutes from Baltimore, MD. I'm so sad and miss my baby. I pray my baby will be okay. Thanks everyone in advance and hug your babies tight tonight. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! I'd get her to a Vet school asap, or get in touch with Yorkies, Inc rescue for a recommendation of a good Yorkie specialist. High protein is not a symptom of Liver Shunt. |
