Annie vomiting - appreciate your advice Would appreciate your advice. I apologize for the lengthy post.:) Some of you may remember that Annie had a dental cleaning/3 extractions in January. Since then, she has begun to lick our carpet every night around 5:00 pm for about 30 minutes. I didn't really pay much attention until she started to throw up in bed every night. This has been going on for about a week or so. I called our vet and told her that Annie hasn't been quite right since her cleaning. You may also recall that I reached out to you guys for your advice on her eating her pooh to which you suggested giving her a few days until the anesthesia got out of her system. You guys were absolutely right...so no longer does this. I mentioned to the vet that she started eating her pooh after the cleaning, and she got kind of pissy with me and said it wasn't due to the anesthesia....I wanted to say "well, I hate to differ doc, as my friends in YT were spot on!!" :). Anyway, she suggested that Annie has an empty stomach at night and to try a small meal before bedtime with a 1/4 tab of 10 mg of Pepcide AC. So we have been doing that for the past three days and she is still vomiting around 6:30pm and around 3:00 am. I feed her at 4:00 am, 11:00 am and a small meal at 7:00 pm of Natural Balance. I am not allowing her to be alone and if I can't be with her, she is in her playpen so she can't lick the carpet. I've placed a plastic sheeting over the bed so that when she throws up at night, it doesn't ruin my bedding. I'm at my wits end on how to help her. I wanted to get your advice first before taking her back to the vet. Thanks for listening!! Katheleen |
I would find another vet to give you their diagnosis....or opinion on what may be going on so you have another voice to try and understand what is going on. I didn't see your previous post and I am sure others will chime in. Just that vets attitude would send me packing... Sending many prayers for your Annie I hope you find the solution to the problem. |
How long has she been eating Natural Balance? Which flavor is it? I think they made some recent changes to at least one of their foods. I fed Max NB for awhile and then switched foods. When we tried NB again, it made him throw up. Does she get any treats? The NB lamb roll really made Max sick, although he used to eat it as a pup. I understand how frustrated you must be, and I hope you can find the solution soon. |
Sorry to hear about Annie and hope that you will find a solution to her problem. I'm no expert so I can't give any advise, but I'm sure that others will chime in with some. Hoping that Annie gets better real soon!! |

Annie eats that small breed in NB and 1/2 tsp of wet. She's been eating this since we got her 5 months ago. She has not vomited for the last two days. She is eating boiled chicken breast with rice, three times a day, with 2.5 mg of Pepcid AC morning and evening. She seems ok with the routine so far, but am concerned that she isn't getting all the nutrition she would be getting eating her dog food. I think I will continue with the chicken for a couple more days and try to transition back into her dog food and see how that goes. Thank you all soooo very much for your kind words and great advice! I would be so lost with you all. Katheleen |
