Oscar is vomiting and won't eat I came back because you guys have helped me so much last time. Well, I hope you can help. Oscar has been vomiting all morning - once at around 9am and just not at 3pm. He's still alert but a little lazy today because we can't take him out as much because of the snow. I added chicken broth to his water a few minutes ago but hasn't touched it yet. Should I give him chicken and rice tonight for dinner? Thanks for the suggestions |
If it was my dog, I would rush them to the vet...just bc they're closed on Sunday & what if he goes downhill? If they vomit once, ok maybe they ate something that didn't agree w/them, but twice or couple of x's a day is not good. Hope Oscar will feel better soon! |
With his history, I would definitely contact the vet! Prayers for you and Oscar. |
Thank you all, he's actually been eating anything except his food - had a few Cheerios this morning and had a few pieces of apples. He also just now ate a few nibblets of his food. He has prescribed food for gastro problems that we got when he had HGE a couple weeks ago. We spent about 2000 on Oscar already this month unfortunately so we're hoping him eating his food just now is a good sign. If not, we will have to call the vet. |
Having had HGE only 2 weeks ago, I'd get him back to the vet asap. This is most likely HGE coming on again, which happens frequently in many dogs. A quick blood test (PCV) will tell the vet if it's HGE or not, and treatment can begin right away. Any dog having had HGE within the last two months and not acting right I would be suspicious of a recurrence. |
Very sorry to hear Oscar is vomiting again. Good advice above to see the vet considering his recent HGE. I read your previous threads -- were you able to find a food other than Nutro? That was the first food I fed Max and we quickly changed when I learned about all of the problems related to it. Also, the more knowledgeable people above can maybe confirm, but I think I would hold the Cheerios and apple. Keep his diet really simple -- stick to dog kibble only -- and see if that makes any difference. I know apple is a popular treat for doggies, but I gave Teddy one tiny piece once when he was a pup and he woke up *screaming* in the middle of the night. He had terrible gas pains. Some pups are more sensitive than others and can have big reactions to even tiny bits of certain foods. I understand that the causes of HGE are a bit of a mystery and stress is thought to be a factor, along with maybe foods. |

When Rosie is vomiting the vet will have me hold her food. Tells me to let her tummy rest. And make sure she drinks water. I don't know about all your pups problems but I think I would hold the food and make a phone call to the vet. Hope your baby gets better soon. |
