Puppy ate cat poop help! While walking my 10 week old puppy Logan around in our back yard, he was sniffing around like he normally does before he goes to the bathroom then I noticed he had something in his mouth.... I go to take it out thinking it was a leaf, but much to my surprise it was poop from the feral cat that we take care of! Before I could get him to spit it out, he gobbled it up! I'm worried now what should I do?? He is up to date on his shots and deforming, but could this be a problem? The cat is a stray and I have no idea what it eats other than the dry food we give it daily... I'm so worried. He seems fine, it's been about ten minutes now. Should I call the vet or am I over reacting? |
Can someone please shed some light on this for me? I've been watching him like a hawk all day. He hasn't thrown up or had a bad stool since the incident... But I'm still worry about parasites or anything else this can do to his little insides :( |
Doggies find kitty poopies very enticing bc of the higher protein in cat food. It's totally disgusting, Momo has eaten kitty poopie b4 when we were out walking. I put my finger in his mouth to get it out & it was s#*! loll To be on the safe side, you can ask the vet if he needs to be re-dewormed. I took in a stool sample, they might suggest doing that too. |

Thank you! That's a good idea. He's due back for his next round of shots so I'll bring a stool sample again and have them test to be safe. Better safe than overrun by parasitic invaders! Haha He seems fine now, I'm just super paranoid. He's my first baby yorkie, I'm used to large breed dogs so this is a whole new ballgame for me. |
I used be a kitty lady b4 I got my 1st Yorkie Mimi! BTW, Momo was parasite free. Hope no worms for your cutie! |

Isn't it funny how dogs find cat poo so totally irresistible? Many years ago, we had to block the kitty litter box from our first Yorkie. Learned from experience! |
I have kitties and yes for some reason dogs thing poop is a delicacy.:rolleyes: I agree I would bring a stool sample to the vet to make sure. Hello and Welcome to YT. "Yorkies For Dummies" and"Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" are excellent resource books .Another book "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days" Is very helpful. They are not as easy to housebreak. Congrats |
Thank you! I'll check out those books. I could definitely use help with the house training =( So far so good he seems okay today. Not sick at all. Hopefully he just ate it, and it passed on through. Still going to bring a stool sample with me but so far he seems fine and happy-puppy all morning |
