Looks like seizure but stops when you pick him up. 7 year old yorkie having seizure like symptoms a few times over past 2 hours. This happened before one day about 3 months ago. He has what appears to be a seizure but when you intervene he comes to. Blasts a few seconds where he falls over and appendages spaz out. Heavy breathing. Doc said last time this happened that it might be seizures or a toxin but there was no real way to know. The last time the seizures lasted for 6 hours and he has been absolutely fine till now. Any experience with this? The only offbeat thing he ate today were 2 honey roasted peanuts. |
A seizure that lasts 6 hrs:confused: is very dangerous, can cause brain damage & those that lasts longer than 5 mins is considered an emergency. Has he been to the vet for this? |
We went to the vet the first time this happened a few months ago. Emergency vet. Said there was no real way to test for it and nothing they can really do except five seizure mess when they notice it happening. The next day all signs of the seizures were gone. Until now he began to exhibit similar symptoms, but he can be snapped out of it and appears alert. Which is why I'm wondering of its a seizure at all. |
I'm not an expert on seizures, but I did read up on them bc I thought one of my guys was having a seizure, but it turned out not to be (vet said). They did a full panel blood test & listened to his heart, etc. One thing w/seizures, they usually have bowel movement afterwards or pee. Sometimes if my guy has a tummy ache, he shakes, could it be something like that? Nuts are not the best thing for them...hope it's nothing serious. |
