Rough cost for eyelid surgery Alright prelim diagnosis on one of our rescue BRT;s is entropions. What did you pay for the surgery, and most especially what generally could be expected for after surgery, in terms of at home care. Thank you so much for your time. |
Our vet charges much more for anesthesia and intubation on large dogs. One of the surgical alternatives for taking care of Max's eyelash under the lid, cutting a portion of the lid, I read was $2,000. Same for cryo surgery. Both done by a specialist. Sorry to hear one of the BRT's has to go through this. |
Try googling and you will probably find big dog forums discussing care. I found a lot of eye things in those forums when I was researching for Max. In terms of post-operative surgical care, I'm guessing a cone, and drops/salves in the eyes 3 - 4 times a day for 2 - 3 weeks. |

Before we the club offer to fund the medical care, we need a rough estimate of what we are getting ourselves into. This is roughly about what I secured today through my vet contacts starting at $2000 per eye as of yet we don't know if it is only one eye, or both eyes affected. And yes that was a rough quote for a large breed dog. I will let folks know how it goes. |
How frustrating and sad that the SPCA continues to hold these dogs when they can't provide the care needed. I hope they are open to your club generously donating the funds. |
