Lilly is bald This is my first yorkie. I just got her yesterday, almost 7 weeks old. She is very active, runs and jumps, plays, growls and eats. Very very well. But she is bald. At about 2 weeks old the. Owner of Lilly's mother saw that she and the other 2 were losing hair rapidly. The vet stated that it was an allergy from the mothers milk. They immediately started feeding the puppies formula and was told that the hair would grow back. She has a bald patch on her head, down her nose, chest, front paws are almost completetely naked, stomac and hind legs. Ive been searching from yesterday to find an answer! If she is permanently bald, i wount mind, she is mine and she is perfect the way she is. Im just worried that there might be more to the baldness than an allegy. Ive been reading about cda, and blue borns, but the discription of these illnesses no not match... the skin is not irritated, she has a bit of dry a flakey patches on her tigh that i treat with tissue oil. Any help? |
Is there any discoloration on the skin at all, where you'd then suspect ring worm? |
Good luck in finding an answer. I hope it is something as easy as a food allergy, but I wouldn't rule out cda immediately. The location of the bald areas seem to match, and for 2 siblings to have the same, it sounds like it could be genetic. Keep up the research and post pics when able. Welcome! :D |

Thank you! No funny discoloration that I am aware of, I've attached a photo - what do you think? I de - wormed her yesterday, I saw that one large worm, about the size of cooked spagetti, and about 15cm came out, last nite 2 of the same size, but about 10cm and this morning again 3 of about 7cm. I was VERY shocked. I could not believe such a small body can hold all of those worms. |
Im not sure of my upload was done correctly? |
Flea Allergy Have the vet check for a flea allergy. I had a 5 yr. old who developed a problem right after being spayed. I was sure it was a hormone imbalance but it turned out to be she is severely allergy to flea bites. Never had a problem until after the spaying. As long as we give her Comfortis at the first of the month she has no problems. |
I would have the vet do a skin scraping to check for mange mites. I cannot imagine an entire litter being allergic to their mothers milk. At 7 weeks old she needs special care to keep her healthy. |
