how long you should wait for puppies been delivered I have a mom she delivered first pup 620 2nd 720 third 8 am. I did have x-rays and know there is 4 puppies. mom seems fine the 3 puppies are doing great mom drank some water. I have no reason to worry except for the time its been 2 hrs . When should I go to vet to check on 4th unborn puppy |
Hi, I am NOT a breeder, but have sent messages to 2 breeders that I hope can come on and give you a correct answer. In the meantime, please contact your vet by phone in case you should be on your way in already. You don't want to risk losing your mama. Good luck, and please update when everything is resolved. |
I already have phoned he said bring her in by noon..if she hasn't had the 4th baby ..I have no reason to worry up till now the deliveries where effortless and mom is happy and enjoying the puppies . Just wondering if anyone else had over 2 -3 hour wait after the last puppy is born for another puppy to come or how unusual this is |
All I can say is to take her at noon like the vet said. Good luck. |
she is starting to pant again I think the 4th is coming I will let you know how this plays out..I am thinking I am just over worrying..but the mom is my baby |
Hope she has successfully delivered the 4th by now, but if not I'm sure you have her at the vet's. Sending good thoughts to all. |
Late chiming in but unless mom was in distress I would've waited also. Hopefully everything is fine now. |
Yes took her to the vet the first x-rays showed maybe 4 well there is only 3 healthy puppies. So there was no 4th puppy ..but couldn't hurt to get mom check she is doing wonderful!! 2nd x-ray showed no more puppies |
Great news all went well. Congrats |
Congratulations on 3. Good to be safe rather than sorry when it comes to vets. |
I am getting to this late, so I am thrilled it all worked out well for you and your momma. Glad you went to the vet....if you were under the supposition there was perhaps a 4th baby, after 2 hours, I begin to assess if my momma is so tired she just can not push anymore, so her lobor stops. Meanwhile, that puppy trapped inside, is not just going to hang out until momma regains her strength and starts to push again....take the momma in and at least get her checked....sometimes something as simple as an IV with glucose can stimulate her to resume her labor.....she may need more to resume.....but to just ignore the delay, could possibly put at the very least, the baby in harms way. It is sooooooo much easier and bewneficial to take momma in, have her checked, do as YOU did and have her re-rayed, and remove all doubt as to what your next step will be. Stay ahead of problems, and you will be sooooo much better off! |
