How scary! I am so glad to hear that Princess is doing okay. I have a fear of the same thing happening to my two! We used to have wood stairs, but we carpeted them because my crazies run down them like maniacs. |

Poor baby! You must have been terrified. I'm always afraid that is going to happen to one of mine - they run down stairs so fast. Now, I only allow one at a time to be on the stairs. We've been practicing "slow" as they go down. So glad there were no broken bones! Hope she is better soon. |

Thank you everyone! I know it was an accident, but I can't help but feel so bad for Princess...I am VERY careful when we go down the stairs now. Please be careful if you have stairs! We have an appt later this afternoon for a recheck. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take her bandages off & check her wound...hope she's ok & it's healing nicely. I had to look up Momo's thread when he got his dewclaw ripped off & he got his bandage removed the next day. I really hope I didn't mess up, this vet (different vet) said to come back 3-4 days later.:confused: Princess is doing remarkably well. She gets around fine & doesn't lick the bandages @ all. I'm not letting her walk around too much, I carry her w/me when she wants to follow me around. When it's time to go outside, that's when she starts whimpering & crying...oh how my heart breaks for her when she does that!:( Will update when we get back from the vet later, she'll surely enjoy the car ride! |
Oh poor baby :(. Lolita fell down the stairs in our other home when we first got her. She was so still I thought she had died but thank God she was ok just stunned. After that she would not even let us carry her up the stairs she was so afraid of them. I hate when accidents happen like that. Praying for little Princess to heal fast. |
I'm just seeing this! I'm so glad Princess is doing okay & I hope all goes well with her vet check today!! And just so you know, like Max, Prima took Rimadyl right after her surgery & she was fine. So I'm sure Princess will be okay. I'll keep you in my thoughts. |
2 Attachment(s) Princess' paw is all better now & no more bandages yay! She was very happy about that...as soon as we got home, she ran up on the bed, rolled around & rubbed her back! She was licking @ her paw, so I put a Kiss-e collar on...she didn't like that lolll. Attachment 393753 Her boo booAttachment 393754 she needs a nail trim...will have to wait a few weeks to do that. If you don't have one of these wonderful contraptions, you must get one from Mom to Hot Rod. I also use it when I'm trimming their nails, it keeps them from trying to bite the torture device. just seeing this now, I am so glad she is doing well, good idea on using the kissy collar when doing some nail clipping. I might get one to use on Lola for that. I have stairs and it is always a concern. I now wait at the top until she goes all the way down. It must be hard with 4 because they could get in each others way. It's like they get a rhythm going and everything is OK, unless something interrupts it. I embarrassed to say I have taken more tumbles down the stairs than Lola, one time I almost fell right on top of her. |

Very happy to hear Princess had her bandages removed and that her paw is all better. Hopefully she can free of the collar tomorrow too. We love our Kiss-E collars, but being freeee is best. :) Hugs and kisses to your little girl. |
Thank you everyone! Princess is completely healed, she didn't need the kiss-e collar yesterday. She's not licking her paw or showing any signs of discomfort. Today is spa day for the fur butts but I think I'll wait another week for Princess' bath. I'll just wash her 3 paws & give her a face wash, clean her ears & bum area. I don't want to soak her injured paw in the water just yet. I've been carrying her outside & put her down on the grass & she does her business & I pick her up again. Seems like she's enjoying it, being a Princess!:D |

Thank you Anny:) Princess has been walking outside for the last 3 days...vet said to wait 3-4 weeks! Since she didn't break any bones or anything & she is not showing any signs of discomfort or any interest in that area...She's been wanting to go outside so bad & I was holding her, but I let her walk a little & she was so excited, kicking the grass w/her heels & looking up @ me w/her silly grin!:D I tagged rimadyl just in case anyone has concerns over it in the future, hope some of the helpful responses in this thread will help ease the uncertainty. Princess was prescribed a low dose, one pill split in half once a day. She had no adverse reactions to it, her stool was fine & no vomiting. |
I am very happy to hear that Princess has healed and that she is enjoying the royal treatment. Also glad she did well with the Rimadyl. |
So glad she's better!! Ugh what a freak accident. Jax has fallen in certain ways before that make me cringe, so I can imagine the freakout you must have had! Poor girl. |
Sorry about the accident:( I lightly kicked my Bailey w/in the first 1/2 hour of bringing him home. Nothing happened, except for me feeling really bad. I considered myself sooo lucky!!!! Haven't repeated that situation, but they sure are quick!! Thankfully he is 7.5 lbs now, at almost 2yo:) I hope that yours recovers soon. As I am not experienced in any meds., I can't comment on that, but am sure there will be others to chime in.
