Yorkie with bloated stomach Have anyone had this problem with their yorkie. My daughter has a 6 year old neutered male who over the last year or so has developed bloat of his stomach every couple of months. She has him on prednisone and another drug (not sure of the name) every time it happens and it clears up but only for a little while and it comes back again. She saw this and was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem with their dog. What testing has been done? |
I have a yorkie with lymphangiectasia. She had the swollen tummy and a was losing muscle mass. Has your yorkie had tests, such as blood work, ultrasound, etc? If not, he needs that so you can come up with a diagnosis. If he has what my Libby has, a lowfat diet is very important. |
It's my daughter's yorkie and she lives in another province from where I live. He has had bloodwork done but I'm not sure that they have done anything else. They just give him the meds and send him on his way until the next time. I think it's time for her to change vets. According to the video this apparently is more common than not in yorkies and other terrier breeds. Thank heavens my little guy is 5 1/2 years old and is 5 lbs. We walk at least 3-4 miles each day and the only issue I have with him is dental, even though I brush his teeth on a daily basis. So far he has had to have 5 teeth extracted :( |
