My baby has Diarrhea My little boy just turned 16 weeks. He has been to the vet a couple times and checked out great. He is up to date on all shots. He is due to go back in a week for his last set of puppy shots. This morning he started with diarrhea. The first time it had a lot of mucus but he has continued with loose bowels all day. He is eating and drinking fine and there has been absolutely no change in his diet.I just wanted opinions and wanted to see if any of you went through the same thing with your little ones.I feel bad for him because I have to think his tummy must hurt. :( Someone told me that loose bowels can be a problem with yorkie pups. His weight at last vet visit was 2.8 pounds.I did call the vet tonight but apparently this was their early closing day. Thanks for any advice! |
The mucus part worries me. I would call 1st thing in the am && keep a close watch for the time being. I know all natural pumpkin works for getting the stool to harden for the time being. Hope all is well. I will keep poor baby in my prayers. |
<ake sure he stays hydrated overnight....if you have Pedialyte, I would put that down for him to drink overnight...and I would give him some canned pumpkin....NOT pumpkin pie mix!!.....and then I would get him into the vet tomorrow so they can be sure there is nothing else going on. A < 3lb baby can go downhill rapidly....and then you are in an emergent situation.... |
Little bit of organic sweet potato (no topping on it). |
maybe a bland diet for a few days, rice and some chicken maybe |
Mucus in stool means the lining of the large intestines are coming out, so there's probably some inflammation/ irritation going on. If he didn't eat anything out of the ordinary, then it could possibly be worms. I would take in a fresh stool sample. |
