I'm kind of freaking out.. I just typed out this post and it got deleted so here I go again. I decided today I would do some deep cleaning. I have been washing windows dusting etc. I came to the kids rooms and they were smelling a little musty. You know the way a 15-year-old boys room with smell. I close the door so is he wouldn't follow me in, I open the windows and sprinkled some carpet fresh on the carpet. I then vacuumed the whole bedroom very thoroughly. I came out emptied the canister into the garbage and then proceeded to vacuum the rest of the house. After this I let Isabella outside.. She ran around and played went to the bathroom and then came in and drink some water. Shortly after that I notice she was sneezing and wheezing. I let her back outside to get some fresh air and she still was wheezing and sneezing. Almost like she was trying to clear her air passage. But she doesn't seem to be having a problem breathing. I brought her back inside and she's laying at my feet and even though it's not as bad as it was but still seems like she's trying to squeeze. I don't know whether she inhaled some water or inhales some of the carpet fresh that may have got on the carpet from vacuuming the rest of the house.. Like some of the residue from emptying the canister. I know this may sound silly but she means everything to me... She's like one of my children and lives a very pampered life. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated Ps.. Sorry if this post duplicated Rebecca |
Poor baby. If she inhaled water, it would have passed by now. She may have inhaled something outside (possibly even a blade of grass, which happens) or it was the Carpet Fresh. Any chance it didn't all get into the garbage can? Dumping a vacuum canister into the can, a lot of dust is going to go into the air no matter what. I always clean out my shop vacs outside for this reason. Check her mouth and nasal passages (the part that is visible). Encourage her to drink water. |
I want to add, Teddy recently had 4 days of violent sneezing episodes. We took him to the vet, but we weren't sure if it was part of a general illness (he had a bout of diarrhea) or if he inhaled a piece of rice from his bland diet. The sneezing passed. |
My hubby just got home and I had him take the vacuum outside and he's blowing it out with the air compressor. They was I can make sure it's all clean out. I just came back in and noticed some clean Saliva on the carpet.. Like she threw it up. But she still acting like something is irritating her Basel passage :( I made sure her mouth is clear or anything. I wish you could hear what she's doing.. It's almost like she trying to sneeze but something gets in the way ;( |
From your description, sounds like she has something up her nose. The saliva worries me. I think I would call your vet's office and talk to them. You don't want to end up at the emergency room after hours. |
Yup that's where I'm headed now...if rather be safe then sorry. She seems better but taking her would make me feel better |
Wow all the typo errors from bring on my iPhone.., lol.. I can spell I promise :) |

Good luck. Hopefully it's nothing serious. |
What did the vet say? Hoping she is alright. |
Just got out of the vet office sorry in advance if there are any errors in my typing.. I'm on my phone.. Anyway.. Everything looks fine.. He checked her nose and throat and didn't see anything.. And of course like any sick child, she didn't sneeze and cough once while we were there.. I'm sure he thought I was nuts.. He thinks that she inhaled water and that's why all the clear liquid came up when she coughed or sneezed. But he did say not to use the carpet fresh anymore.. Pet are so close to the ground that they can become very sensitive to the irritants in the powder. I'm so glad she's ok.. Thanks for all your responses :) |
glad she;s ok also! good to know about the carpet fresh i hardly use it but still good to know. thank you for updating us. |
Scary. She wasn't reverse sneezing or anything - just blocked from sneezing kind of? It does sound like a RS but if not, sounds as though there was something up there that probably got stuck, developed some swelling around it and then time and adrenaline helped the swelling to dissipate and the sneeze reflex to quieten. These Yorkies scare me to death at times. Since Tibbe has been sick fairly recently, anytime he does anything odd I just freeze to be sure he's not about to throw up or something. Usually he's just remaking his bed or bending over about to get his chewie which he usually keeps close to him but he humps up just like he did when he started to vomit and I freeze until I see he's just taking care of business doing his thing and out of sheer relief I sigh so big. Hope that baby stays okay now that that is over. |
Glad she's ok |
