Kind of worried - help please I think Bella may have collapsing trachea. She has developed an infrequent, honking cough in the last week. She also had her kennel cough vaccine last week, could the cough be related?:( |
Some dogs actually get KC from the vaccine, Momo did. Have her checked out @ the vet...they listen to her lungs & will give you antibiotics to prevent pneumonia. Hope Bella will be ok! |
I think I need this post moved to sick and injured thread, but I don't know how. |

I am thinking the same thing it might be KC. I would definitely take Bella to the vet Monday |
Or, it could be reverse sneezing. This thread discusses it with several videos: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...2-weezing.html More info here about it, describing it as honking: 01 Reverse Sneezing (Pharyngeal Gag Reflex) - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! |
Hubby has Bella at the vet. When I called, they said to bring her right in. I do know about reverse sneezing, my shih Tzu does that, this sounded different. |
Keep us updated |
Vet said X-ray didn't show any collapse, but that he will do the scope next month when she gets spayed to make sure. He says not kennel cough, but it is an upper respiratory bug. So she's on antibiotic and Temaril P. Thanks for everyone's concern. |
If the meds stop the coughing I would NOT have any scoping done as that alone can cause CT. |
Themeds did stop the coughing. I agree, I don't think she needs the scope. I'm pretty sure, ( I wasn't actually there), the vet said " if she's still coughing." They are pretty thorough. |
The intranasal faccine does cause these tpes of symptoms sometimes. |
