bella neck HELP, my bella is still having problem with her neck(per her vet doctor) which is affecting her walking. She is in pain. We did x-rays which came back negative. She is on morphine and muscle relaxes. Just started the morphine today, But still appear to be in pain. She was on steroids which help a lot(but you cannot keep giving Yorkie steroids). Any advise please. Or recommendation of a Vet. Live in So. Calif. |
What is the diagnosis? Has she seen a neurologist? |
They think its a disk, has not seen a neurologist. |
Recommend a vet school ASAP, where she can be seen by a specialist and get a definite diagnosis, and receive propler treatment. If you cant get to a vet chsool, where they have all the specialists and cutting edge equipment all present under one roof, at least be seen by a specialist. Poor baby....I will pray for you both.... |
Best to keep her on prednisone if it helps until she's diagnosed. |
I am sorry Bella is in pain. Speaking from experience I would go straight to a neurologist. We spent a lot of money at the Vet and Georgie was never diagnosed until we took him to a neurologist. Keep us posted I will be praying for Bella. |

Thank you. I will keep you posted. |
Are there any vet schools near you? That would be the best place to go, as they usually have all the specialty doctors and testing equipment right there (less running for you and better care for your dog). With neck problems, it's best to get it diagnosed as soon as possible, like yesterday, and keep the dog/pup confined and quiet in the interim, to prevent further injury. Are you near UC Davis? |

Totally agree with the others. A specialist is definitely in order. Sometimes things do not show on Xray. Good luck! |
I'm very concerned for your pup, please have your vet refer Bella to a neurologist/neurosurgeon, preferably at a vet school or specialty hospital. Do not waste precious time in getting her help, this may be very serious. In the mean time I would keep her very calm and confined, to prevent serious injury. My prayers are with you both... |
We just went through this with our little man....2 herniated disc in his neck....it was so painful for him ...he broke my heart I totally agree with others get to specialist the longer you wait the more damage can be done...saying a prayer and sending healing thoughts |
Praying hard for Bella!!! Also for you. |
