Strange Bump on Max's Back 1 Attachment(s) As if this dog needs any more issues! Poor thing. :( About 3 days ago i noticed a roundish bump on Max's back. I decided to wait it out a few days before rushing to the vet since we were just at the vet last week for rabies shots (and about 4 other times during the last 4 weeks for other issues). The past day or so the bump flattened. It's so difficult to see but I took the best photo possible. I'm not sure if it's hollow in the middle or if it just feels scabby. He's very irritated by it. I put some witch hazel on it as well as hydrocortisone which seems to help him. Tonight I was looking for more bumps and I found another very small one. It looks very similar but is more roundish and definitely not hollow. I put the same meds on it. He's wearing a Puppy Bumper now as to not lick the areas and it seems to be working. He's eating, drinking, playing and acting very normal. It's not a movable bump so it's not related to the rabies shot. He was also just groomed so I was thinking hair follicle issue, however there are now 2 bumps so that's probably not the case. Yesterday I made an appointment for Monday. He's going for a recheck to the eye specialist next week but I don't want to wait that long. I suppose I'm just venting. Nobody can diagnose it based on this info. I'm just sad for him because he's just not catching a break. At least his eye looks great. Attachment 391428 |
Poor baby! I was going to suggest it was a vaccination site, but you've already ruled that out. I hope it's nothing serious! Good Luck at the Vet! |

Poor Max! What is it with so many yorkies having skin issues lately? It does look hollowed out...he wasn't bitten by a spider, was he? I suppose it would be red if that was the case. Have there been any bot flies around your area? The time Maddie had that, it was open, but I don't think it was as much as with Max. I hope it is nothing bad and easily treated! Best wishes! |
I hope everything turns out ok. I totally understand your concern. My yorkie, Anna, went through a similar issue a few months back. |
I'm not too familiar with bot flies. I hope it's not that!! |
Just sending good thoughts to you and Max. I hope this turns out to be nothing. He needs to stop worrying his poor Mama! |
I'm kicking myself for not taking him on Friday. He's very irritated. At least I have an appointment for tomorrow. Anxious to hear what this is! |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 391452 It's a red circle with a lighter color in the middle. Possible ringworm? I tried to squeeze it and nothing comes out. |
Best to have it checked out by your vet tomorrow. Hoping it is just a bug bite or hair follicle. |
Praying its nothing serious. Will be looking for the update tomorrow. Good luck! |
I'm right there with everyone else, hoping it's nothing serious...maybe a bite. Anxious to hear what the vet thinks so keep us updated. Praying...again for Max... |
I am at the ER. Will update when I can. |

Sorry trying to sleep. Horrible vet and horrible ER. Max vomited blood in the middle of the night. He got fluids and anti vomit meds. He is stable and sleeping now. Vet wanted to charge $1500 to diagnose reason for blood. Thinks bump is just a skin rash or something worsened by his licking. The second bump she thinks is a cyst and wanted to surgically remove ?? I have a feeling the blood could be from using witch hazel and hydrocortisone cream for his bump and he licked off quite a bit over several days. Going to vet at 2:30. |
