I think my yorkie is sick Hello, I've noticed that my yorkie has been having diarrhea. This started late last night and it's still going on tonight. The weird thing is she's not acting like she's sick. She's acting normal, eating normal, I'm keeping her hydrated. Has anyone had this experience with their dogs? Please, any advice is helpful thank you. |
Even if you think they are hydrated it can be very hard to keep them hydrated with they are having diarrhea I think you really need to call your vet and get her in asap. Diarrhea can mean so many different things. |
I'm calling the vet tomorrow. she just did it right now on my clothes that I had on the floor I know it's not her fault I'm just concern for her |
Watch her very closely....tomorrow will be 3 days with diarrhea, which seems to be getting worse....these babies can go down the drain very quickly....you could end up at the ER tonight if she continues to have diarrhea. How old is she, how large is she, and how long have you had her? |
she's 5 months on the 20th of this month. I've had her for about 2 months she has never had diarrhea since I've gotten her. She's standard size weights about 6 lbs. I'll take her tomorrow, I live in an area where a 24/7 pet hospital is not available. For right now I'm giving her pedia light and rice with chicken. she's eating like a pig. It's just so weird that she has diarrhea. I know it's not parvo because she's not vomiting or not eating. |
i will say a prayer for your pup that it is nothing serious. please update after the vet..:) |

Your baby's problem could be something simple like Teddy's or it could be something else. Definitely time to see the vet. Best wishes for your little girl. |
I'm glad you posted this. My pup started having diarrhea at 3am this morning and I am currently waiting for the vet's office to open up. She's 8 and I think it is stress related. I was away for the last week and she was staying with my parents. Other than the loose stools she is acting completely normally. Running around, jumping, drinking water, snuggling. Her gums are still wet and the skin behind her neck falls back so she isn't showing signs of dehydration, just this upset tummy. Is there anything at home I can give her to make her feel better while I wait for the vet to open up? |

Hope she feels better soon. |
It's been a while but I think the vet told me to feed rice when they get loose. It helps to bind. Not that I'm saying don't go to the vet, do that, but make some white instant rice. If you happen to have chicken broth, use that instead of water in the rice. They will eat it right up. |
Okay everyone penny is fine! I took her to the vet this morning and they took some stool samples and she was okay. The vet told me she may be like this for a few reasons. One is he said this was the third case in this week where other patients diet consist of blue buffalo like my pup. I didn't buy it since I've been feeding her this for about a month already. Another reason he gave me was that if I leave her run in the backyard with the outdoor dogs, they may have worms and such. And last, he said she could of gotten it from eating the cat's stool (I have an indoor cat).I have a big feeling it was because I leave her in the backyard for a couple of hours so she won't be cooped up indoors all day. The doctor also gave me some anti-diarrhea medicine and vitamins for her. I've been monitoring her all day and she hasn't had lose stool since this morning! Thanks for the concern everyone :) |
Glad to know she's feeling better! |
