George been to vet teeth and bloods George had a big day last Thursday had his teeth cleaned and scaled and some taken out (don't put off doggy dental work like I did) He also had blood work done at the same time and got his results today, all organs working properly but has a low white blood count and high red, not really sure what or why and he has to go in next Monday for another blood test to see if count has changed or stabilised (fingers crossed as I have no idea what it will mean) Any way I had to keep him warm and rested no running, jumping, ascending or descending stairs, soft food not exercise for 3-5 days. Well the soft food fine but the rest was impossible, as soon as I got home he jumped out of the car, jumped up the steps and ran up stairs to my bed and went crazy wriggling around then ran down stairs and jumped onto the couch and ran around the house, scoffed up his soft food then went to sleep. Had his first walk yesterday and loved it and is now back to normal with beautiful white teeth and sweet breath.:D Praying for good blood count next week:confused: |
I hope George's blood count is normal today. Please update when you find out. :) |
I certainly will keep you updated next blood work done Monday 12th |
Glad to hear George had his dental. Praying his follow up test results are normal. |

Sitting on tender hooks here. George had his bloods yesterday and have to wait till late today or Thursday for the results. Will keep you posted. |
Good news, vet rang to say Georges White blood cell count is back to normal (must have been the bad teeth) his red count is slightly above normal and wants him to get more fluids to keep his blood thinner and circulating properly into his organs and brain, so even though vet would prefer George to stay on dry kibble for his teeth she suggests he has a little wet food too, so I'm going to try wet food in morning and his usual dry at night. Unless someone has a bright idea as to how I can make him drink more (water always available inside and outside) |
Oh I missed this.... so glad he's doing better! Haha.... just add some water to his food... you can also add a lowfat, low sodium chicken broth to the water to encourage him to drink more (no gravy), or 1 or 2 ice cubes if he likes ice to make the water more interesting. |
