BLADE | 08-05-2013 08:23 PM | Update:
After suspecting liver failure, our specialist did an ultrasound and said that Kimbo's pancreas looked inflammed. She treated him aggressively for pancreatitis. After days in the hospital, Kimbo has rebounded and is home. He is on several medications, but we have begun weaning him off of most of them. He now eats half a can of Royal Canin Gastrointestinal low fat wet food per day. We add 2 oz. of water divide it into 3meals a day. He loves the food. We took him back today and his biliruben went down to 1.0 We have to check him again in 10 days to see if it's better. Does anyone know what a normal level is? Today she said that we can add 1/4 cup of the RC Gastro LF kibble for treats or small snacks because Kimbo was acting like he's starving all the time. He weighs about a pound and a half less now but doc says she'd like him to stay at that weight. We told her that we add 2 oz. Of water to the canned food because he doesn't drink water unless forced. She said that he gets a lot of moisture from the wet food and the 2oz. that we add should be enough. He shows no signs of dehydration.
I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster. Kimbo's recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. I just want a chance to make this little guy as happy as he's made me. He's laying next to me so peacefully. I'm so blessed that we found a way to get him to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. I'm so blessed that our angels Dr. Craig and staff took such good care of him. And I'm blessed because I can kiss his furry little head, hear his contented sigh, and watch him raise a little arm to ask for a belly rub.
Thank you for your prayers. Thank God they were answered. |
