Susan is limping Susan played HARD all day with her sister and is now limping on her right rear leg. She doesn't seem to have any pain in her foot, knee, hip, etc. when I touch it. Her thigh seems a little swollen to me. She walks OK sometimes and then limps. I hope she just over did or over leaped or something. Plus the puppies (they're almost 8 mos) wrestle like crazy. Anything could have happened. What should I look for in the morning to know whether or not to take her in to the vet? |
hhhmmmm... If there is swelling there could be a problem. But I would see how things look in the morning and decide then. She could have simply pulled a muscle. If she is not screeching when you examine her, chances are there's no break. Good luck, and let us know how she looks tomorrow! :p |
I hope your little baby's leg is ok! Maybe it is just from playing too much today! |
How's Susan doing today? Is her leg any better? |
She's a lot better today. No limping. But we're not going to let her play today. We're taking her with us to Branson instead of taking her over to Mom's to play with Little Bit. |

I will tell you that sometimes these little ones can take alot more pain than you think. My first one, Tahti was pulled from the pound by a wonderful rescue woman. He was only 8#'s and was very sick with Kennel Cough and many other things, he was not expected to live. She immediately rushed him to the vet and through the dedication of these two woman he survived but once he could start walking they noticed he was not walking on his back leg. Upon taking an x-ray they found he had been kicked so hard it had pulled the leg out of the socket  Never once did he complain or wimper because of his leg. He now lives the good life and for the most part his leg is fine. The vet did not recommend surgery as it would have made the leg shorter and later in life he would have a great deal of pain. He can run like the wind with only 3 legs and is the kindest of all my dogs. |
Good to hear! I am happy that Susan is doing better today! Hooray! :D |
my little guy toby has been through so much lately. he plays pretty hard with my cat. one morning, we heard him yelp..the rest of the day he was lathargic, and would just crawl into the corner or crate. he seemed totally uncomfortable. we decided to take him to the vet. turns out he had some sort of a slipped disk in his spine. the vet also told us that yorkies knee caps can also be very loose..a result of their small breed. they put him on steroids and complete crate rest for 2 weeks. he was fine after a week and a half, but then started getting diarhea from the steriods. he's totally back to normal now, and i try not to let him play too hard with the cat from now on. glad your little one is ok.. it can be so scary when you don't know what's going on. |
