Agree. This reminds me of a case I heard of a long time ago near me. A woman tripped over a child in a store who was misbehaving and sued the store. The child was hers! :eek::thumbdown

Things happen and I have learned we always have to check surroundings for our dogs just like we do our children, especially in other peoples homes..
I had a party last week with adults who were having cocktails and made sure Jess was off the main floor and in another room as it was an accident waiting to happen. She easily gets under foot. (I myself stepped on her once (totally sober) when I got off a stool and she was right below me and I didn't see her, thank goodness I didn't hurt her.
I think you would have a hard time as to recovering costs since it wasn't in her home, and you were both visiting someone else if I understand correctly. If it was her home it would fall under her homeowners . would it be the polite thing to do to offer? Yes. legally not so sure..but it varies state to state..

As to the fracture, please please have that cast taken off and an orthopedic surgeon look at it. My Jess jumped off a couch and had a double fracture near the growth plate. They put a cast on for five weeks and It did nothing. Poor thing five weeks of a cast, then they wanted to amputate. I said "NO WAY" pick another option and I went to a great surgeon who had to not only operate but do bone grafts because of the time wasted in a cast. Then 8 weeks of living in a crate, 6 weeks of slow rehab but she is totally healed 6 months later. It cost close to 4,000 when we were done but Im glad we did it. I just wish we hadn't done the cast. Wow, your poor baby! It amazes me that the mother of that kid won't help-i guess that speaks volumes about what type of person she is. So sad.
