Pixie update Pixie has been suffering from a bad UTI and serious anxiety. I have been so worried about her continued anxiety over any loud noise or sometimes no reason at all. She will run to me and shake when a plane goes over head or a motorcycle goes by etc. She doesn't always react but many times a day she does this. She usually settles down in a few minutes. If it's raining or storming she is a wreck for hours and hours. When not anxious she lays around depressed looking. I use Xanax for bad storms and the vet prescribed Clomicalm for longer term use. Before I started her on it I wanted to make sure she did not have any other medical conditions. I took her in today and had blood work, urinalysis and an Xray. Her urinalysis looked good, as did her Xray. They had to send her blood work out because their machine broke. She also has lost more weight. 2 weeks ago she was 3.9 lbs. Today she was 3.6. Her ideal weight is about 4 lbs. She is eating normally but I don't know if all the stress is taking it's toll. So I am waiting to hear how her blood work comes out and then will start her on the Clomicalm. Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts. It is heartbreaking to see her sad and scared all the time. I am praying the blood work looks good and the Clomicalm helps her relax and enjoying life again. Thanks |
I am so sorry about Pixie's anxiety - and that her blood work comes back normal. I'll keep the two of you in my thoughts and prayers. It is such a helpless feeling when they are ailing and we can't fix it. :hands: and  |
Praying that Pixie gets better. Let us know how it all turns out. |
I hope your sweet Pixie feels better soon. |
Praying Pixie's blood tests are all normal and that Clomicalm helps her with the anxiety. |
I was thinking about Pixie...hope Pixie's blood results come back w/in normal limits. Praying for the poor baby. It's been a nightmare for Princess & Turbo the last few weeks here. They're setting off fireworks every night & what sounds like loud explosions, even @ 3.30am! Grrr It's so hard to get Princess to eat & they start shaking like leaves & panting once they step outside for their walk. I would like to know how the Clomicalm works... |
Praying for little Pixie... hoping a cause for her fears can be found. |
Thinking about Pixie hoping the blood work up is normal and the Clomicalm helps with her anxieties. |
Praying for good test results for Pixie and that she can finally get some relief with the new meds. |
The vet called me this morning and said Pixie's blood work was perfect. So I started the Clomicalm today. I will keep you posted. |

I pray the Clomicalm helps to ease both of your fears and anxiety. |
Patti, I so hope this medicine helps little Pixie. I know she will love having the edge taken off her fears and just get to chill more successfully like most dogs do. It's high time this little one gets her some relief from this stress but glad you tried everything else first and got blood work first. |
Sweet lil Pixie! I so hope her anxiety lifts and that she feels better soon. Hugs and kisses from me and the crew. |

Last night I had to keep our bathroom fan on & sit there w/Turbo & Princess. Good thing I had my tablet! I think all the shaking, panting, overheating & lack of sleep is taking a toll on Princess. She's losing weight & her appetite is gone.:( They\'re setting off loud explosions even @ 9am!:thumbdown Another reason why I can\'t wait to move...tonight, my parents & I are going to take the fur butts to a near by city that doesn\'t allow fireworks. There\'s a nice park there, so we\'ll be spending the 4th outdoors. |
