charlile I have my older guy Spud on Blue Buffalo senior food. It has the chondrontin and glucosamine in it . You may want to check into a food that has these in it. I also have him on Dasuquin, a joint health supplement. Just some ideas if Charlie is having trouble with his legs |
This is great news about Charlie and hopefully using stairs or a ramp will help this little boy. So glad that baby doesn't have to have surgery. |
I found some really nice little pet stairs on Craiglist for$30 bucks. Probably over 100 easy beand new. Got it home and steam cleaned it because it's covered with carpet and it's like its brand new. Best of all he picked up on it quick and loves using it. :) |
That's great, I hope it keeps him safe and well. |
Update on Chalies knees... I was going to take him for a walk this morning but noticed he was limping. I felt his knees and noticed popping. I massaged them and he seems to be walking better. Should I be concerned or just keep an eye on him? |
Did a web search and see it's normal that that would happen from time to time. He's not in pain and walking pretty normal now so I guess it's ok. These guys love to stress us out don't they, lol |

I have just read this thread. As usual, I have learned so much. All of you are just so helpful and willing to share your information. It's a true testament to all the love you have for YTers!! Thanks for sharing!!! Of course the best thing is, that Charlie is doing well. Cheers! |
Hope Charlies getting around better now. This will happen on occasion. Spencer's would slip/pop out of place on occasion. I would run to the vet with him each time, finally she showed me what to do to get it back in place myself. He never required surgery and lived a fairly active life...just no jumping was allowed. It's always best to get a vet's advise on the amount of activity he should have. Good luck, hope you get all your questions answered. |
Just seeing this!! Poor Charlie. So glad no surgery... hope he continues to be well. |
Buster had the surgery on one knee and that knee will sometimes bother him. I don't know if it's the knee moving or the hardware which I can feel. So even with surgery there is no guarantee that the fix will be "perfect". I have ramps and steps but I still can't keep him from sometimes jumping up and down off the couch/bed so I worry about my little daredevil. |
So glad Charlie is doing better. I honestly do not know how you keep a natural jumper from jumping. We started trying ramps and stairs for Laddy at 9 weeks old and he still refuses to use them. Kyra is not a jumper (waits to be picked up) but if you dont have stairs in place she will bail off so we keep them for her. |
