Please help:( Someone gave me my yorkie about 1 and a half years ago. Recently one rib is so pointy it might as well be out of the skin. I touch it and it doesn't seem to bother him. I just need to know if this is normal? The vet is soooo expensive. Advice? |
Its not normal with my yorkies |
I mean it's just I never remember it being this bad |
It may be nothing but its best to let a vet look at it thats the only way you will know for sure |
I would get it checked out by a vet |
This sounds like a floating rib, especially if it is not painful to the touch. Every Yorkie has a pair of floating ribs, and it is normal and harmless. However, have it looked at by the vet just in case. Let us know what the vet says. Here is information on floating ribs: My dog has ribs sticking out sometimes? - Yahoo! Answers |
Vet your dog to see what is going on. Don't rely on internet scources when your baby's health might be concerned and you don't have a diagnosis. Once you get a diagnosis from the vet, the internet and YT can be very helpful and supportive. I've owned and rescued many dogs and never faced that issue with a single one. |

This tends to poke out on some dogs Skeleton of a dog If you look at this diagram you can see the last set of ribs are not connected, those are the floating ribs. You can feel these on your dog, they will be more on the side. |
