Update! Just got back from seeing the specialist. I guess the symptoms we are seeing could be side effects caused by the Metronidazole. She has been getting up in the night and acting off too..So... He thinks it might be related. As far as Lactulose I can play around with the dosage.. She can have 1ml 3 times a day.. however this high of amount makes beautiful diaherra. But when she gets a little crazy/off like she has been I start to increase the amount. He put her on Enroflaxin for 10 days. At this point I am stopping Metro.. Then in 10 days we will put her back on Metro. He said she may be a dog that needs Antibiotics for 3 weeks and 1 week off. If her symtoms go past 48 hours we are going back in. Hoping its just issues with meds and it will resolve itself. He didn't even charge us for an examination fee. So very nice:) On a side note..I was STARVING after we left the office.. Today has been crazy and I have had barely any time to think so I decided to go through the drive- thru before heading home because I needed something ASAP. I came home and sat down to the table to eat and Taycie decides to Bark and whine at me.. I look at her and say, " Are you really hungry?? She of course barks in response. I am thinking ??HUH????...So I get out her food, and dish it up and the little princess eats the ENTIRE portion. I am thinking... REALLY???? Little stinker!!! You act snotty about your food all week.. We go to the vet and then you come home and proudly eat your food!!! Maybe she knows I will make her go back!!!! HA! I am also wondering if the Increase of Lactulose has helped... I struggle with this drug.. It truly is a double edge sword! Because while it will help with her encephalopathy ...it cleans her out, (since it is also prescribed for constipation). Anyways..Thanks to everyone for thinking of us! I am hoping things just go back to normal! |
I am glad to hear that Taycie did well at the Vet and it's possibly the metronidazole. I am also glad to read that she ate all of her food this evening. Maybe she was having just a few off day's. |
Just seeing this, glad to hear that Taycie got her appetite back! Loll it's always like that, they feel better after coming back from the vet! Maybe it's our senses that they reflect upon & relax since mommy is finally relaxed.:p |
Glad to hear Taycie is back to being the boss. Haha. You were smart to get her in quickly. Keep us updated on this precious baby. |
Good to hear maybe the vet knows what is going on and hope this regimen helps this little sweetie. I'll be praying and watching to see how she's doing. She's in good hands, I know that!!! :) :) :) |
Just saw this.....sending prayers for sweet Taycie. Hugs to you..be strong. |

Taycie ate her dinner tonight! It took about 20 seconds for it to be lapped up! I gave her first dose of new meds tonight as well. I am thinking that increasing her Lactulose helped as well... She is all snuggled in next to me and we are going to hit the hay! I will continue to update. I am hoping she continues to improve! |
I am very happy to hear that Taycie is eating and that the new med regimen is helping. Keeping both of you in my prayers. I'm glad too that you have an excellent doctor. Based on my experience with Max, I think our pupsters know when a doctor is trying to help them feel better, and that we take them to the doctor for this reason. |
I'm glad to hear that Taycie is doing much better now! And it sounds like you have an awesome vet! |
Good news! |
Glad Taycie is feeling better. |
Good report and sounds like she's responding very well already! Keep it up, Taycie girl. You can do this! Tibbe is pulling for you and think you are soooooo cute!!! He's very sad when you are sick and wants you to feel better so fast. He's sending Yorkie kisses if you won't tell any of the other Yorkie guys he did.... so please.... sssshhhhh......kiss, kiss, kiss!!! XOXOXOXO!!!! |
