Good morning. Dudley ate a little more yesterday and even went for a walk (he walked instead of me carrying him). I know this won't last either but am always grateful when he rallies even if for a short time. I will keep you all informed as we go through this time. Thank you so much for the prayers and understanding. |
I am so sorry. You & Dudley will be in my prayers. |

What a lovely update. We truly do know that heartache of a failing dog. Rallies are wonderfull, it means he is with you a bit longer. We will be here for you. Don't please don't hesitate to post. You are going through a very hard time, my heart just breaks for you. I will share that a little over a year ago we lost our girl to cancer. She went through the chemo treatments et al. We had our intellectual discussions of when and if and why. But in those final days (which we didn't know were actually final), my husband and I knew, just really knew, without intellectual thought, but through our hearts that today was the day we had to let her go. It was so very heart wrenching. But you will know, I know you will. It is a truism that is very accurate. NOt that it will hurt less, but that you will gather up your courage, and say it is Time. He will always be with you, in your thoughts and prayers, and in the profound difference he made in your heart. |
What a wonderful message. I guess I have always known that I will know when it is time. Just hearing that from so many of you is very calming to me. I just don't want to make him suffer more than is necessary just because I don't want to lose him. Thank you so much. |

And I know you don't want to make him suffer a moment longer than necessary. We will be here for you some-one will, at almost any hour, if you feel the need to share. You can share, like you have the daily ups and downs, we will cheer with you for the ups, and help you through the downs. On this board I have found, so many many true dog lovers and through that extension of ever-abiding love for a pet, that real empathy to another human that is blessed with and loves back their dog. Unequivocably, with total devotion - the true devotion that always places the needs of the dog first. I'd like to think we know what that sounds like, what it smells like, and what it feels like. (((((((Hugss)))))) again and gently kisses for Dudley. |
Well, I can't get him to eat hardly anything and he is vomiting up his meds most every time. I really don't know how he keeps alive. He just wants to sleep on my lap all the time. I called the vet and he told me to feed him 1/2 pill in the morning with food and the other 1/2 in the afternoon with food. That would be great if I could get him interested in any food. I just don't know how to get him in the mood to eat. He won't even go for his treats that he used to love. Thanks for listening. Carole |

I am so sorry. What pill is it? Mirtazapine perhaps? Mirtazapine is an appetite stimulant. It also helps with nausea and vomiting...but sometimes it is good to give another med with it. You might want to ask the vet about that... Sadly, though, when they really get to the end nothing seems to work. You and Dudley are in my thoughts and prayers. |
Dudley The poor baby, he must be feeling very bad. Perhaps the time is nigh to consider if he is getting weary of all this discomfort? When they dont want treats anymore they can't be too happy with life. What does the vet say? Is this a temporary setback or a gradual decline. I know how terribly sad it is to see our babies so sick and I feel the pain you are going through. Prayers for you and dear little Dudley. Hugs. |
