Pstinard. Why is it positive and helpful and non snarky advice for you to suggest taking the baby to the vet and others here cannot??? EllieMaes mom. Sorry your genuine cry for help has gone this way. You and we care for these babies and only want the best for them. You are doing your best and should be lauded for doing so, and I pray the constructive milk suggestion helps. All the 'snarky' people are saying is that all our advice may not revive the pup if there is a health issue we do not know about. To be logical, often the obvious answer is the correct one! So hang in there and pray the milk will help your baby. |
Ok here is the deal. You are talking to people who are very passionate about the breed. Ladyjane is part of a rescue group who sees so much when it comes to these babies. She gives her heart, her soul, and her life to them. If you had seen what she has, you would understand her passion. She can't help but be very direct after everything she has personally experienced with these pups. Does this family member have a regular vet at all? My vet, since I am a regular customer, will talk to me on the phone. Why don't you call the vet and see what he/she recommends? A phone call will cost nothing. It's worth a try. |
I'm not an enabler either but I couldn't stand the thought that I could have saved a puppy's life if I had only helped. This puppy was just born correct? Most importantly is for it to be kept warm. Never feed a puppy that is cold you will kill them. Here is a homemade recipe for feeding the puppy... 1 can evaporated milk 1/2-3/4 can distilled water (or baby water or boiled water-cooled) 1 cup plain yogurt (NOT fat free) 1 tbsp Karo syrup (corn syrup) 1 egg yolk Mix all. Warm to body temperature. Feed 1cc per ounce. Weigh them before feeding and after. Keep records of weights to make sure she is gaining. Make sure after she is fed she is being stimulated to potty. Her belly should be nice and after each feeding. Bottle feed or use a syringe or dropper, what ever works. Pry the mouth open and put in tiny bit at a time, make sure they are swallowing and hopefully they will want it and start sucking. I would say tube feeding but you can't do that unless you know what you are doing or you will kill the pup. I've used this formula before on my pups and a lot of the foster kittens I get, it works really good. It's better than store bought formulas take caution with those as some have harmful ingredients in them. It has good a good amount of calories, they usually thrive on it. You just have to constantly watch them to make sure everything is being done until they start to improve. Nutristat is alright, I prefer Neutra Drops absorb in body much much quicker. But don't give either of these all the time or often, only when puppy may need an extra boost. Hope this helps some. |

My neighbor is very near completing school to be a vet and her brother IS a vet. I can promise we will all collectively do what we can to save this little pup. |

One thing I've learned with my time on YT is that this is a place of tough love. People are only harsh and blunt towards you because they CARE and want whats best for you and your puppy(ies). The members here are extremely passionate about the breed and, in my opinion, get highly offended when others carelessly our breed. Just remember, there is a difference between PASSION and being MEAN. We are very PASSIONATE here. I do hope that you can convince them to let you take the baby to the vet. Prayers being sent your way!! |
EllieMaesmom Wtg, all looking good now. Hope you get the mom and pups and that they thrive under your care and with the able help of your vet friends. Praying all's well that ends well. Good luck with your new extended family! Pics would be nice please. |

If you don't like certain people's advice....just use the handy dandy ignore feature. Works like a charm...but when it comes to the Sick and Injured Forum there are a few people who do happen to know what good advice is and by using that ignore feature you may just miss some very good advice even though you don't want it. :) It is funny how you came here knowing what you should do...and told us not to say it.:confused::confused: |
