How is Tibbe today?

My Spud rubs his face on the chairs. I thought that was a normal Yorkie activity. I wonder if Tibbe should be on any kind of a bland diet because he is having stomach issues. Whatever the vet says to do. Watch everything he eats and I would not do any flea meds until he is better. I do hope this little fella starts feeling like himself again. It is very frustrating not knowing what is going on and you know he is not himself. Healing prayers for you and sweet Tibbe.

He's been on Hill's I/D GI for the past year but Friday the vet changed him to Hill's I/D Low Fat and he seems to be doing better. He's had breakfast today and demanded a "Seek Treat" session twice in the last 30 minutes where I hide his kibble around the house while he waits on the couch and he goes and seeks it out, crunches it down. I didn't know if he'd accept that low fat food made mostly of grains and easily-digestible things as his treats but he does. I looked at the ingredients of the Hill's and it's not too impressive but anything that will help him not be sick is what it takes. He's about 90% himself today but still lacking his full force zest for life and fun.

It's good to know a lot of dogs rub their face and I've had others do that but not Scotty or Jilly. But he doe it only sporadically and not for very long and at the same times - when I go to the restroom sometimes and sometimes on the doggie steps when he's waiting for me to get up and open the door to go outside. It seems more like a habit now. He won't just get up and go rub his face and he never does headpressing, drooling, circling or is uncoordinated or weak, etc. That Ginger video really shook me up last night after seeing that little thing rubbing her face as she did and pressing her little head, unable to just just up the stairs. She seemed to be suffering. If I were around a dog that acted like that, we'd be off to the vet right then.

I do too! Much to learn. And I just got my explanation off one of the shunt websites. I'm far from any expert and just learning. For all I know, the bile acids test studies how the liver works to process protein and fat and even more things - I just don't know. I read a little every day until my eyes kind of give out or I get too worried. Then I stop and read more when I can.

You and Tibbe have never been far from my thoughts over the past couple of days. I'm so relieved that Tibbe is 90% himself. I'm waiting anxiously to hear that he is all better. Be well, my friends. I'm praying for both of you.

Hopefully his BAT tomorrow will be WNL or at least not so bad he'll need surgery. He's not had that good an evening. Playing Hide and Seek Treats and doing some more training, he essentially had his evening meal and then started behaving oddly again - very clingy and standing and staring at me when he's not right beside me or on me. He's following me everywhere, ears out to his side. He's unhappy and I don't know why.

Has Tibbe had any UTIs? Just remember a High BAT result does not always mean Liver Shunt. Tink's were way high and she had no large shunt. Her bile duct (from the liver to the gall bladder) was blocked, which was remedied with medication.

Was he tested for pancreatitis?

You both have been through so much. I'm praying for excellent results and for Tibbe to feel completely well again.

No. Never and doesn't show frequency or problems. No thick, discolored or smelly residue or blood around the opening of urethra or on the hair. He seems ok in that department so far in his life. But that is good info to know for future reference.

They did a SNAP test for pancreatitis last June or July during his last big bout of this and it was normal.

No BAT today - Tibbe had a stash!
 

I'm so frustrated we have to wait a day for Tibbe's BAT. I fell asleep on the couch last night around 9:15 pm or so after taking Tibbe's bowl up about 8:30 pm to start his 12 hour fast so I could take him in for is test today. I woke up around the 10 o'clock news was coming on to the sound of Tibbe crunching kibble! I sat up and there he stood crunching! I didn't worry too much thinking one piece of leftover kibble from our Hide and Seek Treats game wasn't going to make a big difference in his test. Went to bed and soon there was Tibbe coming into the bedroom and then started crunching more kibble he obviously had in his mouth! Where was he getting this stuff? Still, I didn't worry too much over 2 pieces but got out of bed and looked around in the den for anymore kibble he could have missed in our Seek game and there was nothing. The spots I hide it in and all around them were free of kibble. Back to bed and just as I'm drifting off, Tibbe comes back in the bedroom, apparently with another piece or two of kibble in his mouth, and starts to crunch away, even dropping one piece on the rug as I looked down at him. Half asleep, I got up to get it but he grabbed it up and gulped it whole as I was still sitting up! Back out of bed and down the hall and into the den and living room with even a flashlight to shine in any nooks and crannies and no kibble anywhere. But I realize that by now he's had 4 pieces at least of kibble during his fast and who knows how much else he might have eaten down in the den after I was in bed - from wherever he'd got his stash of old goodies.

Today, I did find what could be a few crumbs of kibble down in the corner of the couch under his CedricNLola blanket and wonder if my little prince has been stashing kibble there for some reason! He's never ever done that before as far as I know and maybe that was crumbs of something else he stashed there but now I'm spending the day and taking my time going over every place I can think of to find stashed kibble. I did find about 3 pieces in his Squirrel In The Stump toy and 2 in his toy basket! At times as a game I do sprinkle kibble treats over his toy basket and he tears out his toys one by one to hunt for the kibble in there and I guess he missed those B4. Ugh! I've found one piece in his airline carrier and one on the Utility Porch floor near the door. Turns out, there seems to be kibble all over this house even though it is cleaned regularly. So, I just don't know where any other pieces of kibble might be but apparently he knows the places and can readily access them all with his nose anytime and he did that last night after his bowl was taken up!

Anyway, after at least 4 pieces of kibble after his fast began and who knows how many more he could have scarfed, I had to forego his BAT today. Now another day of waiting and gearing up for the whole thing again tonight and start that dread and worry all over again. Grrrrr.

Then, on top of everything else, he woke me at 5:20 am this morning growling his adorable "I want" growl and barking and doing his cutest antics to get me up from bed and following him into the kitchen where he led me to his empty bowl spot and started spinning around and barking earnestly at me and looking at that empty spot and back to me and at the spot and back to me and at the spot and back to me. That little boy was hungry and then some! I had given up on his BAT for today anyway after all those kibbles he ate so I dished up his breakfast and he stood over that bowl and crunched and crunched and crunched away. He was so full when he joined me on the couch under the afghan and turned on his back for a tummy rub that his tummy seemed rounded up and out! Back to sleep he went. I soon joined him in sleep and we slept in a bit. Guess I was pretty tired to sleep almost 12 hours, off and on.

I have realized that I'm going to have to barricade him in the bedroom tonight just in case he still has an unknown kibble resources somewhere. And I've searched it already and found no kibble. We're getting that BAT tomorrow come h_ _ _ or high-water!

Oh my! The Tibster is on the loose!

He has a stash just in case he is ever starving to death.....like THAT is ever going to happen!!!....and he has to rely on self perservation instincts!!!! I love all the little rituals they have....so adorable and I swear, you can actually HEAR them telling you exactly what they want! I am glad he is feeling better.....and doing his "little things" that tug at your heart strings....
