Stomach issues? I have a 7 week old Morkie who has had the runs a week ago and vomiting. Took her to the vet and they gave her a shot to stop the vomiting. Also gave her flaygel. Her stool sample came back neg. Have had her on chicken and rice for 5 days and her stool is still runny and soft. Vet had me change her to boiled beef and rice for three days. Her activity level is normal but the treat training had to stop so she has been reverting to some bad behaviors and accidents in the house. Wondering if the rice is the problem. Never been so confused. Was feeding her Earthborn Holistics and Innova dry kibble before this started. |
Welcome to YT. Sorry to hear your pup is ill. With continuing diarrhea and such a young pup, I would return to the vet ASAP. Sometimes things like giarda or coccidia are missed on initial fecal exams. Keep us updated. |

Very good site that can explain it a little better: Coccidiosis In Dogs (Coccidia) - Symptoms,Treatment & Prevention |
I would definitely take her back to the Vet. I have never experienced this, but have read so many cases where the first fecal exam misses things. That is a really long time to have diarreah - especially with such a small dog. In the mean time (while you wait on your appointment), make sure to give her some pedialyte and nutrical to help with the loss of fluids, electrolytes, and nutrients. Also, you may want to try some can pure pumpkin (not pie filling). Just about a 1/2 tablespoon a couple of times a day would be good. Again, I suggest these things while you wait to get her back to the vet, but definitely get her back in there for some more testing ok. Prayers to you and for your baby! |
It could be many things. I would do as the others suggested and go back to the vet. Please keep us updated. |

Thank you all for your responses. Mia is doing much better. Thinks she may have a food allergy to chicken. Now on Merricks Grain Free Real Texas Beef and Sweet Potato Recipe and is doing great. |
