Say a prayer for Abigale Abigale is my little senior failed foster that has been with me for over 4 yrs. She has been on anilpryl for cognitive dysfunctional for awhile now but in the last couple of days she has started turning around and around in circles for long periods of time. Talked with my vet tonight to see about increasing meds and he says the circling concerns him because she could have something neurological going on (maybe a mass or something). We're increasing her anipryl and starting her on a small dose of zanax. She is a very old girl that is blind and almost deaf and beginning to have a difficult time walking now. Already been through this with my Kady 4 yrs ago except she started with the head pressing. Took her to the vet one morning when the head pressing was worse and that night she started having seizures. We had to help her cross the bridge that night. Don't want to ever have a little one go through that again. I know Abigale's time is probably getting shorter and I dread having to face it when the time comes. She had her meds about 45 mins ago and right now she's out like a light. Hope she gets some good sleep. |
I'll be keeping your precious Abigale in my prayers... Hugs, Kathy |

Abigale slept good last night. Woke up at 7:20 barking. Feed her and now she is just walking from room to room but not in circles. Will just have to play it by ear and give meds time to work. She doesn't appear to be in pain. It's interesting that when my other two had gotten to this stage in their lives they weren't content to sleep with me anymore and didn't want to be held for over a couple of mins. I wonder why they get like this. Kady had slept with me every night for 15 1/2 yrs then all of a sudden started acting panicky when I put her on the bed. I wonder if it's because they start pulling away because they know they are sick- like cats will a lot of times go off to die. Wish I unsterstood what goes on in those little heads. |
Bless her heart. I will be praying for your baby. |
Ann i am so sorry and hope Abigale is doing better |

I was searching " Circling" and your post came up. I have a 3 lb, 15 yr , 4 mo. old yorkie, Lacey, who has been blind for 2 yrs, has been diagnosed with early kidney disease and now since she lost her little sister 2 months ago to Kidney disease, her behavior has changed. Its gotten worse this past week as she's up all night 'circling' at times and pacing. Something different from her mapping for blindness. She can circle 20 times in a minute. I searched out Senior Canine health issues and I seem to come up with CDS, something of which it sounds like your 15 yr old Abigale is being treated for. The symptoms are the same with both, so I guess I better get in touch with my vet and get her on some Anapryl . She won't let me touch her or hold her, I can't groom her or clip her nails anymore and its so hard clearing the hair from her blind eyes she puts up such a fuss. How isAbigale doing now on her meds? Thoughts and prayers, I understand what you're going thru and thanks for helping me figure out, thru your post, what is possibly wrong with our little Lacey. What size is Abigale? ITs so hard to figure meds for a 3 lb. senior dog. Lindsey was Laceys sister , same parents , 2 yr apart litters. She misses her so as we do, its only been 2 months. Its so hard watching your seniors health go down hill. God bless Abigale, hope she's feeling better. Lacey don't sleep much during the night and neither do we, so life is difficult right now for all of us. How do you know its time to let them go ? |
Prayers for you and Abigale. |
