Rosie throwing up She's vomited twice now. Dark brown and totally liquidy. looks just like diarrhea. I haven't seen her eat any poop though. I have an appointment tomorrow for her shots booked already, but I may hold off on the shots if need be and just have them check her out real good. Fecal for sure, but what else can I ask them to run on her? She eats well. Normal poops. I pick them all up so I know she didnt eat any. I vacuumed thoroughly this morning before the first time she threw up. I was home all day today and she was fine until now. She's sleepy now. I gave her some nutrical and have pedialyte in her water bowl. |
Sorry to hear Rosie is throwing up. I have been dealing with Roxie with regurgitation issues. But last night she threw up brown icky stuff a couple hours after she ate. It was digested at least this time. I think the newer kibble I have them on, Fromms, is not sitting well on her tummy. I hope she feels better tomorrow. |
Oh no! Hopefully she will be better in the morn- Peanut just had a little tummy bug, maybe something going around. Today he is showing signs of improvent! Sending good thoughts and well wishes to sweet Rosie. |
Praying for Rosie... |
I hope Rosie is feeling better to day. Let us know what the vet says. |
hope rosie is feeling better. |
Feel better Rose |
Hope Rosie feels better today |
Praying Rosie is feeling better. Giving her some chicken and rice for a few days might be good for her upset tummy. Teeka is just recovering from an intestinal infection, so if she is still not feeling well in a day or two, please see your vet! |
I was going to suggest the bland diet for sweet Rosie. Let her little stomach rest. Perhaps it is the food she is getting. I am glad you are going to the vet. Definitely hold off on her shots and be careful when giving them and also if any flea meds are given. Yorkies are so sensitive, I really watch what mine get. I feed Blue Buffalo and use Revolution for fleas. Do your wise search before you give her anything. I will pray for Rosie to get better. |
Sending get well prayers for Rosie. |
We are at the vet and theyve so far taken a fecal, may have to test for parvo. No shots for miss Rosie today for sure. Shes in my arms, her little head tucked in to the crook of my elbow just like Luma does when shes upset or tired. |
Poor Rosie.....you feel so bad for them when they are not feeling well. I hope it is not parvo! Please keep us posted! |
We're home now. Her fecal and parvo came back negative, thank goodness, but that doesnt really help solve the issue. They gave her an injection of cerenia to stop her vomiting, and prescribed her amoxicillin for 10 days. Sent me home with a prescription GI canned food. Another concern is that the breeder said she was 2.6 lbs when I brought her home and the vet weighed her today, she is 1.9 lbs. :( That really freaked me out, especially considering she is free fed all day long, she eats and drinks fantastically, and I give her nutrical twice a day. They said either scale could have been a bit off, causing the difference. They said she didn't appear underweight. She did great and now is walking around looking for Luma. (she's still at the groomer). |
Poor Rosie! I pray the meds take care of whatever is ailing her and that she feels better quickly. How sweet that she is looking for Luma. |
Glad is was not Parvo! Hopefully Rosie will feel better, soon......she might have lost a few ounces from being sick, stress of a new home and a difference in scales could account for the weight loss. Give Rosie a big hug! |
Hope she feels better soon. |
Oh dear! I haven't seen that dark of a color before. Poor thing... Glad she's doing better! It wasn't a quick food switch, was it? As for the weight...a very easy answer could be that the scales are different. Just like when you weigh yourself at home then at the doc, you could be a couple of pounds different. In her case, a few oz. If you haven't noticed a weight change, I'd say it's the throwing up combined with the different scales. |
I hope she's feeling better soon with the meds. Please let us know how she's doing. I'm so glad it wasn't parvo. |
Just now seeing this. That Cerenia should really help, but I am also wondering did she have a quick food switch? Praying it's just a temp bug and she'll be all well soon. |
If she vomits up that dark liquid stool consistancy vomit, ...this is gross....smell it to see if it indeed does smell like feces.....if you know for certain she has not eaten poop, and her vomit is smelling like feces, she could very likely have an obstruction....maybe something she has swallowed, that she can not pass and has her plugged up....take any vomit you smell that smells like stool, and go to the vet with the vomit specimen so he can smell it. I hope Rosie is feeling better...... |
Hope Rosie will be feeling better real soon! IDK if you did a food switch or maybe she ate something she wasn't supposed to, but a bland diet might settle her upset tummy. |
What food switch is being discussed, just to be clear? Breeder sent her home w/ wellness, that's what she's been eating. If you're talking about switching from the Wellness to the GI prescription food, I haven't given her any of it yet. I made her some chicken and rice when I got home. She ate and is now sleeping. |

That is great news! I know we are always so stressed out when our babies are sick, esp when they are babies!! Sounds like she is on way to recovery. I wonder if there was a little bug going on? I can tell you she has been improving because you take the best care of her- all those little things really add up and helps them recovery quickly. Peanut is doing 100% he finally ate his dry on his own Monday, and he also pooped!! He has been doing great since then so I’m safe to say his little bug is gone.. So strange they can get these little tummy bugs! |
I am so glad little Rosie is doing better. Please be careful with the shots. With a dog that timy I would be real cautious. I would not do a rabies shot. I hear people have lost little dogs to that shot. Check that out but just do one shot at a time if you decide to do them. |
