My second baby getting spayed this week.... 1 Attachment(s) Yesterday I took Sadie to the vet because she has been in heat since Feb. 14. (She is almost 11 months old). The Dr. didnt know why, so they wanted to go ahead and spay her to take care of the problem. I dropped her off at 730 this morning. She is only 3.2 pounds and I worry that she will have a harder time with it since she is so tiny. Please keep her in your thoughts as she is recovering. Thanks |
Oh wow! What a long time to be in heat. Bless her heart! Praying for Sadie, that the Vet's hands will do their thing, and that she heals up quickly. I would be a nervous wreck...I know you must be. Just stay as busy as you can today. |
Yes, I havent been able to sleep. Thankfully Bella has been great. She is a little bigger than Sadie, so I dont worry as much about her. I was shocked about Sadie being in heat this long...I kept thinking......just a few more days.....I hope. Then it turned into weeks. She was so swollen I decided that something was definitely wrong and thats when I decided to take her. Thankfully with her being so small, the blood was not that much. The only thing that she KEPT doing was hump my arm.....At first, I was like- um no! stop.....Then I finally gave up and my arm has been her friend lol Hopefully she will no longer do this. I have heard that even after they are spayed, they still do the humping thing as a sign of dominance.....Lord I hope not ! |
Poor thing......I think she will do fine. Teeka was 3.6 lbs when she was spayed at 8 months and she came through it just fine! |

They started her surg. at 8 and I got a phone call at 8:50 saying that they had just finished and she was doing great. They also removed a couple of teeth while she there. They told me to call around 2:30 to let me know what time I can pick her up. Sitting here is like waiting on water to boil! My other 2 babies are snoring lol I think they are enjoying the quiet. |

Also, they said she had an extremely large uterus.... Not sure how or why.....At least its out now..... |
Well, it was probably inflamed beyond belief from being in heat for 2 months. Wowzers! |

My Luci who I took in as re-home this past May, she was not even 3 pounds was in heat when I got her, waited for it to be over and had her spayed, her uterus was large as well, Vet said if she had gone into another heat she would have gotten pyrometra. Oh and Luci was 4 1/2 yrs old. |
