sick yorkie Hi I`m new here. My yorkie,Trixie is in the emergency clinic now. She stopped eating and was just laying around. They said she is anemic. They gave her a blood transfusion, and she felt good for awhile, but got worse again. The blood cells are getting low again. And she has low protein. They still aren`t sure what it is.They have her on steroids. I`m suppose to pick her up from the emergency clinic tomorrow morning and take her to the regular clinic to continue her treatment. She is only 4.30 lbs now after losing same weight from not eating. This is the first time for me, having a sick dog. They said it might be a chronic intestinal disease. Anyone else have this problem? |
I'm so sorry for all you're going through w/ your sick baby. I'm glad you found YT and joined though, bc you'll get support here. So, welcome. I'm not familiar w/ chronic intestinal disease...is it in the small intestine or large? Please update us if/when you can. I'm sending good thoughts for you and Trixie. :) |
I hope little Trixie is doing better this morning. Rather than going between an emergency clinic and regular vet, I always opt for board certified internal med specialists in a 24 hour facility. Even a vet school if you have one close enough as their vets are also board certified. They have the needed resources for diagnosing and treating serious conditions. Good luck and please keep us posted. Welcome to YT...so sorry that you found us this way, but glad that you did. :) |
very sorry trixie is so sick sending many prayers for a full recovery. |

I would be considering a vet school....they have all the specialists there under one roof....and you are not toting a sick baby from vet to vet....she sounds like the needs the specialized care they provide....praying for your baby and you.... |
Sending prayers and best wishes. Welcome to the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois ISVMA, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association |
