Puppy not acting the same I have a 4 month old yorkie named Meeko. Lately when I try to wake him up he is very disoriented and moves sideways instead of walking straight on. Also lately it is impossible to wake him up. He goes straight into doggie sleep mood. How do I get him back to his normal playful self. The only thing we have done different is switching his food. We went from iams yorkie food to trublue small breed. Anyone else have this problem? |
no i dont recall this with cedric or keylo....have you seen or called your vet? i would just to be sure everything is ok. |
Get this dog to the vet with a video of the waking process if you can but get the vet to check this out. Disorientation and the behavior you describe isn't normal for a puppy. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I would definitely make an appointment with your vet for an exam and a couple of blood tests. |
So then I should video the acts, then show it to my vet? Bc I have talked to the vet about it. But he always seems normal whenever I take him. |
yes good suggestion get it on video so your vet can see what you're talking about. |
Video it and take him for an exam. Talking doesn't get testing done. If that vet seems to not know or isn't taking your serioously, go to a small-dog vet - one who knows Yorkies. Sounds neurological but it could be something like hypoglycemia causing this or something like that. But the dog needs to be seem by someone who will test and look for something going on. Walking sideways and disorientation are not typical. Pups of 4 months age usually wake up ready to go and full-speed ahead. |

Yes, has bloodwork been done? This sounds like either low blood sugar or a neurological problem. Have tests run, please. Praying for your baby! If your vet can't figure it out, please go to a vet school |

Please update when you can. |
i agree // if you can video tape it and show the vet// praying that he will be ok |
I agree with the others, try to get that on video and show your Vet.. if he doesn't think it is serious as Jeanie has said find a vet who does.. Will be praying and sending good thoughts for your baby- |
Ditto to what others have already said. There has been cases on YT where the video of the pup helped the vet diag the problem. |
