Lynzy, First I want to say prayers are going out for Mini that she gets better. Second I want to share my experience with CT and Asthma in a dog. We have a Pomeranian and shortly after we got her she started the honking. We took her in and they did xrays of her trachea and the vet showed me that it was partially collapsed and at that time she was also diagnosed with Asthma. She was put on Theophyline. She is now 10 years old and up until 3 months ago was still taking the theophyline. She isn't on it anymore because the long term affects of theophyline is breaking down the kidneys. At her last vet visit our vet explained that we could take her off or leave her on it. She doesn't have alot of time left in this world. so we elected to not give it to her anymore. I know this doesn't sound hopeful to anyone but without her being on the theophyline we would not have had her around as long as we have had. she was 4 months old when she was put on it and is now 10 years old. So it does take awhile . |
Checking in to see how Mini is doing. I am keeping her in my prayers. |
Praying all is well for lynzy and mini |
Prayers for you....good thoughts your way! |
I went to see Mini this afternoon for a few hours actually, apparently had another episode in the night, xray indicated CT for sure, although I saw it I don't see it...if that makes sense...they are treating her for the asthma, fluid (though I forgot to ask is the fluid on her lungs from Asthma?) anyway She is on Theophyline, steroids, antibiotics and something else ? I can't recall the name of, she is not in the O2 tent all the time but most of the time, Dr. said she is definitely responding well now...the Specialist will be in tomorrow to see her, I'm really hoping things aren't as bad as I feel them to be right now...I'm trying to stay positive, I'm in a boohoo mood now...it will pass. Its the unknown that I hate, the unfamiliar, the accepting the selfish feeling of why me, when I really mean why my Baby Mini, she is so important to me that I can't even express how important...but she knows it! I will keep you posted, thanks for continued thoughts and prayers and information, I'm trying to learn it all. |
Poor girl - I'm praying for her. There is nothing as panicked as the owner of a dog in the vet clinic getting treatment for a serious condition. I wish there was a way to combat it or deal but there isn't other than trying to stay busy when you can. Other times you just sit and stare. It goes with the territory of loving a dog and it's like flying when the plane takes that fall of several thousand feet and keeps falling still more and your stomach knots - only this doesn't end until the vet gives you really good news. I sure hope she takes a turn for the better soon. |
I'm glad the vet said Mini is responding well. Keeping you in my prayers. |

Mini Thank you so much for the update. Poor little Mini. I can understand why you are feeling concerned and teary at the moment, knowing she is in the hospital being treated and medicated, and you are not with her. It sounds like Mini is having everything done for her to make her better and I hope she is still accepting being there well. I am sorry she had another event in the night, but not all bad as they could really monitor her and see what was going on during an attack. Cheer up and please be positive, as once she is over this acute phase she will be managed with meds and feel well again. She has been through a lot these past hours, (and so have you) but she will get through this and be her happy little self and home with you before you know it. I know words don't help much when it is your baby and you are scared and stressed, but we are all thinking of you and praying all will be OK again very soon. Hugs. Get well soon Mini, we are all rooting for you! |
Thanks for the update. Good thoughts and blessings to you both. Hugs |
Keeping you and mini in my thoughts and prayers Lynzy. I get the same way as you and I thinks its because we feel so helpless to help the one we love so much. We are doers not wait and let be done type people and when we have to wait for answers or wait for medications to work it is hard on us. Use us at YT for your support to vent to cry to whatever you need...heck I'll even do a shot of Patron with you if it makes things better!!! :) just know we care about you and Mini and want to help you two anyway we can!!! |
Praying for a good report from the specialist today... |
Quick update, have to race back to work. Mini is staying on all the meds, including antibiotics and steroids. Specialist concurs with my vet; however, is adding a med (will check name when I get it tonight), xray does definitiely show cm, it can be managed, the combo of no steroids, asthma and ct played a roll in the attacks. xray today shows fluid gone from lungs and that they are no longer narrowed (asthma under control). I will be visiting with him at his office on Friday. Ex is taking the day off, paying the bill and taking her home with him and picking up Mia. Ex is no longer insisting we go to Cornell Univ, right now anyway...I am picking her up after work cuz I gotz to have me some Mini cuddling tonight! I was surprised to hear my vet say that Mini has been treated for asthma for years, its not that I'm irresponsible, really I am not...its that I trust them so much and they always do what is best, I am tenacious when I have to be but I have 100% faith in my vet and know they care about my Mini like I do! I will be more steadfast and will fully educate myself on this.....I'm just so glad she is coming home. |
Oh, I'm so happy to hear she'll be home this evening. I know once she gets her momma cuddles you'll both feel better. |
Great news! |
